I want to go to him and comfort him but I know he'd not like that, not in front of everyone anyway. “Can I access the human internet now? There's some things I want to check about the disappearances,” I ask looking at Mr Collins and trying to shift the attention from Mason. “Eat more first, you've barely eaten,” he nods towards the food left on the tray. I grab another slice of pizza, rolling my eyes as I bite into it and walk around his side of the desk to use his laptop. He opens up a new internet search page and slides the laptop towards me. Shoving the last bite of pizza into my mouth I quickly log into my social media. I ignore the notifications and messages and open up the search bar.

“You don’t smell like a pack. You smell like... static. Like something unfinished.” Zerina snapped inside me. “He’s baiting you.” “I didn’t come here to fight,” I said, stepping forward. “We’re just trying to figure out what’s happening. Who that girl was. Why she’s—” I stopped myself. He nodded slowly. “People like that girl go missing all the time. Sometimes it’s rogues. Sometimes it’s worse.” “Worse than rogues?” I echoed. He didn’t elaborate. Just turned, already backing toward the trees again.

Panic tries to bubble up my throat but I tamp it down. Deep inside of me, I register that if they’d simply gone off course, they would’ve arrived at The Nirvana by now. I asked my men to call me if they arrived. I’ve checked the phone in my grip for hours, still no call. Missing person reports usually go out twenty four hours after a person has been declared missing, but Duke and I called in some favours and now, Amani, Zuri and Aunt Ophelia’s pictures have been sent to every single county police’s database.
