Hearing those words from someone else made it sound like a story about a stranger. After enough pain, numbness set in. The memories that had once kept her awake all night no longer had the power to shake her. She gave a faint, indifferent smile. “Like you said, he’s just an ex. As far as I’m concerned, he’s as good as dead. Why would I remember him?” “As good as dead.” “Why would I remember him?” Sean stood in the shadows and heard every word. Kids who lost their parents. I turned it off when I couldn't handle the weight over my chest anymore. All these people, they are dead, because of -me. All those innocent people, what was their fault, to be killed--just so i can fake my death. The big room suddenly felt so small, i felt suffocated and it's still my day one over here. I hesitantly walked toward the door. I placed my hand on the door knob and debated myself wether i should get out or not.

Running solved nothing. As much as it was going to kill me, I had to let him go. I had to let him run free. He wasn’t ready to settle down. He wasn’t ready to face the demons that were haunting him. There was nothing I could do to change that. I didn’t want to get caught up in the moment. Those demons would catch up with him eventually.
