On Valentine’s Day, Ethan Scott had a last-minute social engagement and left me home alone. Late at night, I received a message from him, telling me to meet him at a bar. Thinking he had finally remembered me, I rushed out the door, eager to see him. But when I came to the door of the private lounge, the scene before me froze me in place. Taylor Winston straddled Ethan’s lap, her silk camisole slipping from her shoulders, the straps barely clinging to her elbows.

She informed filling my glass with orange juice. “With Victor.” I scoffed hearing his name and she nodded with a questioning look. “Sometimes I feel like, this Victor is his first wife.” She laughed at my statement and Valerie sipped her coffee. “Victor is Valentine’s right hand. He never goes out without him. Don’t be jealous of that lad, I can tell you that Valentine is straight. He isn’t interested in guys like Harman.” Valerie assures me like it was some serious issue earning a slap on head from Lola. I spit the juice ruining my dress and laughed hard.

“Have a seat, Leilah.” Colby assisted me in the seat in front of this Blake guy while he took the seat beside him. There were folders on the table and Blake is drinking wine. “Leilah, this is my adoptive brother, Blake Valentino. Blake, this is my biological sister, Leilah Rivera.” Colby introduced us. Blake reached out his hand. “Nice to meet you, Ms. Rivera.” His voice is sultry and wispy. It sounded like sea waves crashing inside my ears.

The doctor looked visibly startled when he saw me in the hospital room. Not long ago, I had come to him for a prenatal checkup and asked how to ensure my baby's health. "I'm sorry. Unfortunately, the child couldn't be saved," he said, his voice tinged with pity and sympathy. "Should we inform the father? Strange, it's Valentine's Day, and he's not here with you. Was there something urgent?" Oddly, I felt nothing. Just an eerie calm.

Justin bowed his head slightly, and swallowed hard. “Can you please let me in? I promise I'll be quick with whatever I want to tell you”. Valerie exhaled deeply before rolling her eyes. She would rather not face Justin. I mean, why would she want to face him? He is her half sister's fiancé, and most of all her ex-boyfriend. “I'll give you 10 minutes. Once the 10 minutes elapses, you'll have to leave then” Valerie heaved, and Justin nodded as he got into the sitting room.

She could not accept the idea of her daughter marrying a guy from a single-parent household with no house or car in the city, so she broke them up. Later, I fell for Valerie at first sight. I spent six months pursuing her before I finally met her family. Given my wealthy background, Gloria wasted no time pushing us into marriage. In my past life, I had foolishly believed Valerie had cut ties with Eugene long ago. I assumed she only found out about Susan's illness through a class group chat. It was not until I stumbled upon several gigabytes of messages on Valerie's phone that I realized the truth that they had never truly ended things.
