The king sat on the dais, robed in crimson, his crown catching the light. His gaze swept over me, sharp and assessing.
“Exclusive to you?” His tone was calm, but the undercurrent was steel. “Why?”
Khaled’s jaw was iron. “Because I’ve decided it. Because without him, you’d be holding my funeral rites instead of this meeting.”
