Just a quiet, solemn stillness. The cost had been too high. I sat alone beneath the stars, my hands trembling in my lap. My skin still glowed faintly, like starlight refused to leave me, but I felt it, the fracture inside. The price of that power. It hadn’t just drained me, it had taken something. A piece of my soul I might never get back. Kane approached silently. He didn’t speak at first, just sat beside me, his hand finding mine. “You saved them,” he whispered.

The Callahan name was clean, the secrets were burned, and the chairmanship was settled. Kane closed his eyes, the orange glow of the fire still burning behind his eyelids. He had won the war, but as the darkness of the city swallowed the car, he realized he was finally a true CEO. He was powerful, he was untouchable, and he was absolutely, irrevocably alone.

The only courtesy he offered was placing him on the sofa. Kane found books under the TV table. Since he couldn’t do much else, he spent time reading. The TV was useless—no internet, no cable. Just a screen that needed a flash drive or CD. As he read, he planned his escape. But every plan led to nothing—he couldn’t do anything without King waking up. He glanced at King, still unconscious. Thankfully, he was still breathing. Kane still had a chance to get out. His gaze lingered on King’s face longer than he realized. He only snapped out of it when King suddenly moved.

“There is someone watching the situation closely. Someone with a lot of influence. And they believe you are leverage.” Nina froze. “Leverage for what.” “For me,” he said. “For obedience.” Her stomach dropped. “Your uncle.” Dante nodded once. “So this is not just about family expectations or reputation,” she said slowly. “This is about power.” “It always is,” he replied. She stepped back, breaking the contact between them. “And you thought sleeping with me would make this better.” “No,” he said. “I thought it might be the last honest thing I get to have before everything becomes complicated.”

Russo shakes his head. “It’s not bad, it’s VERY bad. Your shoulder has been hurt too.” All around, people start shouting. Many are clamouring to help Kane, the newly minted victor who had just slain the king of the east. With his victory, Kane will become even more powerful. No one has ever fought and won in combat against Iroshi before. But then again, no one ever sought out Yuriko to betray her master either. She was both his strongest and weakest link.

She could hear Mr Kane’s voice. He was talking to some client. Mr Kane was a rich man, he earned a lot thanks to making business with both the rich and the poor by selling shady drugs to anyone who could afford it. Mr Kane was a man in his fifties with gray hair and piercing brown eyes. He was an Alpha and he had a weak spot for Omegas, male or female unimportant, as long as they were young. The younger the better. Arya was still pretty young, it was her second time here.

After minutes turned to almost an hour of sitting on the floor in a ness of tears and cuddles we all pull apart and the boys help me up and to the couch. We spend the next two hours talking and I answer as may questions as I can. Kane has yet to leave my side and the energy that slips though his small body is strong and full of emotions and I know that he will be the one to hold my powers. He will have the powers of the faes and possibly the dark-lings.

He glared at James before making his way out of the conference room with Mariana walking behind him. “Don't you think you were a little bit too harsh?” She asked. Kane was silent making his way out of the hall before getting into the elevator. He was pissed off no doubt and anyone around him could feel his blood boiling. Kane hated to loose millions more than anything. He cared about nothing but gaining power. To unsurp his way to the top and not let anyone get close. Getting into the elevator, his phone buzzed in his trousers. He got his hand in his pocket and took out his phone. It was a call from his main office. “What is it Noelle?”
