KAI’S POV The blade screamed before it struck. Not audibly, not to the room, but to something older inside me. The wards under my skin detonated into heat as the air split, and instinct tore control from thought. “Zara!” Too late. The blade wasn’t metal. It looked like obsidian glass, curved and narrow, veins of silver light pulsing through it like a heartbeat. It emerged from nowhere, no summoning circle, no warning glyph, just there, sliding out of empty space and into flesh.

I stumbled back from the door, pulse wild. Outside Carlos’s boots slid in the mud as he met the force of Lars’s strike. Claws scraped sparks against steel as he deflected, twisting with a snarl. “You’ve grown slower, pup,” Lars mocked, teeth flashing in the moonlight. Rage flared hot in Carlos’s chest. His blade sliced close, forcing Lars to retreat two steps. “And you’ve grown sloppier. Or is this the best you can do without slaughtering women in the dark?”

of course! Kara began to run the other way, back to her house. She went up the stairs to her room, knowing full well Roselle always slept too soundly at night. Kara searched her drawers...where was it again? She felt its cold hilt touch her fingertips, and she knew it was what she was looking for. Kara held the ivory blade to her night light. She went out through the window, and ran back to where Mary and the Cleaner were fighting it out. "What the hell are you doing here?" Mary asked her loudly, dodging the Cleaner's attack. Kara jumped back to a safe distance, realizing she had no idea how to use the blade.

Three blades knife is meant to destroy and cause serious damage, a weapon only possessed by people like us and they were to be used only in the case of war. My sword, the sword rumored to be forged of the blood of my enemies wasn't entirely a lie. It was forged of their blood and carbon steel, it was possible with good craftsmanship and magic, and I remembered how I was supposed to have Lycus dead with his blood being forged into a special knife for me to carry around as a reminder that I had ended him. How things have changed. "With access to these types of blades, it's obvious that the killer is amongst us but catching them wouldn't be easy, no trace was left. Not even a scent."

Pressure settled over my shoulders, heavy and intimate, like hands bracing me in place. Kael drew a blade from his belt, It wasn’t ceremonial in the way pack weapons were, there were no jewels, no polished silver. The metal was dark, etched with symbols that seemed to move if I stared too long. “You don’t have to watch,” he said. I didn’t look away. He cut his palm cleanly and blood welled fast and bright, steaming faintly in the cool air. The sigil flared red beneath his feet, lines lighting up like veins.

Theryn’s resolve holds, their light-blade glowing, their guilt a fire. The rift-beast surges, its chaotic maw slashing, a keeper vanguard converging with starlight hymns that shake the vale. Kael’s Shadowkin charge, their void-blades sparking, Kael’s voice resolute. “For the reborn world!” The keepers’ blades, empowered by the beast’s chaos, carve radiant arcs, their numbers overwhelming, but Kael’s loyalty holds, his aura a bulwark. Maddox’s shadows bind a keeper, but his voice snaps at Kael. “Don’t let that beast break us, Shadowkin!” Kael’s void-blade flashes, his growl fierce. “I’m here, Maddox—focus!” The tension flares, a crack in our unity.

Ignoring the gasps behind her, she then pulled the arrow straight up and out of Brand's back. "It doesn't look like it hit a lung, Alpha. His breathing isn't labored," Kelda announced calmly, taking a clean cloth from her pocket and pressing hard onto the wound to help staunch the bleeding. "Hold this tightly," she instructed, trying to grasp the young woman's hand to replace her own. The woman jerked back as if she had been struck by a snake. Kelda rolled her eyes. "Hold dette fast," she repeated in the old tongue. This time, the blonde nodded in response and moved her hands to the cloth.

Kent growled, and his breath moved my loose blonde hair. “Change back. Change back now!” I demanded. He was scary. Probably more than the wolf that attacked me. Thankfully, the fur dissipated back into skin and his wolfish features turned back to manly ones, as two of his four arms turned back into arms and he was standing upright again. Naked.

LAIKA He swung his sword in his hand and took a step forward. His eyes burned with something I could not understand. The moon was up and bright, so I saw the slashes. He wore a vest that exposed his arms. A long slash ran down his left biceps and was still bleeding, his lips were cut, a cut on his cheekbone that did nothing to mar his beauty, and a tickle of blood ran down his temple. "Alpha Karim, please," I muttered, not knowing exactly what I was pleading for.

He hadn't seen it in a while within the WereCat Prides for a very long time and knew exactly what was going on between them. Blade stood at his study window and watched intrigued as a line of 4 black SUVs stopped out the front of the Den entrance. He then watched as the Shifter King escorted his Gamma along with the 2 Omegas and another Alpha Cheetah that he eventually recognised as Alpha Duke of the Vapor-Moon Pride, out to the SUVs. Blade turns and walks over to his desk, opens the drawer, picks up one of the burner phones he possesses, presses the only number programmed into it and returns to the window as he waits for it to be answered…
