Book 2: Random Wetness: Blurb: What would you do if, in the middle of a wild party, just trying to dance your heartbreak away over a colleague you secretly crave, then a stranger grabbed you from behind, bent you over so fast and started fucking. Just when you wanted to raise your voice, you started enjoying the pleasure….you leaving you too weak to stand? Yeah. That happened to me. Crushing on the dangerously handsome Kaelon Draven, who doesn’t even know I exist, has driven me to some very reckless choices: Like hiring a smug love doctor to cure my obsession. Like disguising myself as a man just to land a job in his company.

Excusing himself, he left to prepare breakfast. Kate nodded and sat down on the couch waiting for Clarence. Her eyes roomed around. The place was dark with an… she couldn't pinpoint the kind of feeling it gave off. But it was something dark but not scary to her. Not scary? Kate questioned herself. Everything dark was always scary but why didn't she feel that way but loved it? This made her remember her dream again, the girl and the dark valley kept coming to her mind.

A card with a number she was supposed to call if he didn't come back. He'd made this decision without her. Put her here without asking. Treated her like a package—and she'd let him. She needed air. She needed to think. She needed to remember who she was when she wasn't waiting for him. Her phone buzzed. Tom. “Hey,” he said. “I found that box you wanted. The one with the camera and the journals. You want to pick it up?” She almost said no. Then she didn't. They met at his apartment. He looked the same. She felt like a different person entirely.

"My mom likes the Padres." "San Diego girl." He nodded seriously. "Respectable franchise. Inconsistent but respectable." He tapped the book against his knee. "You like reading. Knox mentioned it." I looked at Knox again. Knox was studying the ceiling with intense focus. "I do," I said. "What are you reading right now?" "I'm writing, actually. A fantasy novel." Both of Robert's eyebrows went up this time. "A real one?" "A real one. It's about a librarian who rides dragons."

she added, gesturing toward Chloe and Gale, who were already talking in hushed tones up front. "I'm not going to Creedbay for myself, Kate," I breathed quietly. "I'm going for my son." "Well, sure, of course," Kate replied easily. "Okay, if not a new guy, then what about the Blackwood partners? Hanging out with them would be a lot more fun, don't you think?" I blinked, my brows furrowing. "Wait, what? Are they at Creedbay Resort?" Kate nodded, her eyes narrowing slightly in confusion. "They are. Didn't you know?" I slowly shook my head, turning my gaze out the window as the highway blurred past us. I didn’t know.

Great. It's a bomb... Katherine thought snidely. Katherine slowly pulled the leather briefcase out of the box and laid it on the crisp white desk in front of her. It was locked, but the key was tied to it with a silver ribbon so that she could easily open it. Katherine detached the key and unlocked the case, shutting her eyes in preparation for the explosion, she was almost sure would come. Nothing. Not a sound, let alone an explosion. Katherine slowly opened her eyes. She took her hand from the key and very warily opened the case. Inside was a brand new Apple Macbook laptop, the power Cord neatly rolled up beside the laptop.

Dots. Glee started for the bookcase but turned back. There it was, on her computer hutch beside the keyboard, the thin edition Katie had brought to her. She looked down at the small flimsy book with its cracked spine and gold lettering—From Wealth to Poverty by Rev. Austin Potter—and suddenly recognized it as a turn-of-the-century collection of daily temperance sermons and personal anecdotes she had bought at a rummage sale once, written by some long-dead Methodist minister. Stories she used to read Brookie when she was a little girl growing up inside this house. But what was the passage again? The page number and chapter? Katelyn had mentioned them, and now Glee couldn’t recall.

"Personal?" "Yes," Robert laughed, "she was quite a bookworm, you mother. In fact, I do believe she even stored some photo albums here too if I could just… Ah! Here we go." Robert handed the books to me. ###
