Running around, is Katherine, a fifty-something redhead, with emerald green eyes and pale, flawless skin. "Don't over-mix the batter, love." She whines at a much younger version of herself in a standard, British accent. Kate was a beautiful, young woman graced with the growth spurt of puberty. Before all that, her mother was Carlton Black's own housemaid who practically raised Sebastian.

She cursed as she walked towards her bag and picked up her outfit for the day before stomping off to the washroom to prepare for work. "Ouch…she almost broke my neck!" Harris whimpered, as he sat up and stretched his neck after watching Katherine stomp off to the washroom. Katherine reappeared in the room after almost half an hour in a black knee-high skort worn above black net leggings, a black halter strap tank top, and a black knee-high Italian boot. "Wow! You look as sexy as a mafia queen!" Harris exclaimed after ogling at her for over five minutes since she returned to the room.

Kathy grunt and choose the truth this time around. "Who did you have a crush on right now?" Kate slyly asked.

“Yeah. She does. I’m careful, always. Never out of control. But she watches me, like she’s waiting for something to go wrong. I never really understood why.” Thomas’s face darkened, the lines around his eyes deepening. “When Alexandra was six and a half, her mother—Katherine—was killed by a drunk driver. She was driving home from work. Alexandra was at home, waiting for her. She heard the sirens first. I’ll never forget the way she screamed when the police came to the door. Katherine was from Colorado, sharp as a tack—Ole Miss law, top of her class. We met there. After she died, I took two years off football to raise Alexandra and Rodney, who was just two. I was lost. She was shattered.”

I blinked, my face heating up as I registered what was going on. “I-I’m Katherine, Jenny's daughter.” I stammered, quickly standing up and turning my back to him, trying to give him some privacy. “I heard the kitten and… I didn’t mean to intrude!” The chuckled softly, seemingly more amused than annoyed. “It’s fine. I should’ve closed the door. I forgot that we were going to have a girl living with us now.”
