Not after she'd seen him that night, bruised but not begging, struggling to remain on his feet even when the world had promised her she'd topple over. --- Flashback – The Alley The flashback struggled its way back. Her hood was over her head. Her small body was shrouded in darkness. The way she'd tried to bluff, to stay hard even as her hands shook with fear. Not for her. > For her brother. That's what killed him most now. --- Present — Early Morning Nathaniel shoved away from the desk, chair scraping quietly on the floor. Decision made. If he could no longer trust his own instincts—

“I am here now; too late.” My necklace exploded with light, and my senses caught a vision. I entered into a throwback scene. In The Flash Back— Eight-year-old Kieran was in a Lab. He tied my wrists to a metal table, and his hands shot out. “It's the only way,” he whispered. And injected me with a green substance. In The Present Moment— The vision cleared away, and my senses returned to the present I gasped, griping my pendant chain. “Liar!” I kicked Kieran and sent him stumbling backwards.

Author's POV Ace checked his mail and saw indeed he had sent information. Ace opened the file and felt the land started going away from under his leg. The phone fell from his hand. "No. No. No. "It cannot be possible" Ace whispered and broke down on his knees. A guilty full past came in front of him Start Flashback, 10 years back 17 years old Ace was checking a file when his assistant entered his cabin hurriedly. Ace was about to shout at him for not taking his permission before entering but watching his facial expression, Ace felt the matter was so important.

I don’t care though, I want to see why this image has imprinted itself in my mind. "I'm there too,” I note, seeing myself staring up at my mate, grinning unnaturallly wide. "You're not meant to feed into memories. This should be a vision,” Keo insists, trying to draw me away from it. I see myself, knowing this isn’t a memory. When I draw my hands once nearly tucked behind my back out, I have a knife in my hand. Kastriv remains stil as I push it straight into his heart. I gasp. "I stabbed him."

I wished to think that the world could be so kind once in a while- that it would throw me a bone. But I had been a Keffer all my life. All good things passed that of AMA and Vale we're evil things disguised in a beautiful lie. Shall I not tell the tale of Gabriel the Alpha's son? Was it not him I found wounded in a field when we were nothing but pups? Trapped in a bush of odsgrave thorns, "the wolf's prison". Was it not I that freed him? What did that do for me? He was kind for a moment, a moment when no one was looking, and then for a lifetime in the eyes of everyone, I became the Keffer that I am today.

*Flashback* Went downstairs for breakfast, refused the yummy macaroni and cheese that was offered, preferred bread and Nutella and a glass of juice, ate only two slices of bread without any juice, got irritated by Ashlyn and gave her a good reason to cry, got back upstairs, locked the door, feeling triumphant for putting Ashlyn down, heard Leone's voice at the door, refused to open the door for him, felt threatened by him, informed of a guest's arrival, got irritated by Leone, looking for a million reasons to remain angry, stomach rumbled and now we're back here wondering why this flashback was necessary and remembering how big of an appetite she has. *End of flashback*
