The Price of a Second Chance
When the fireplace went out, we were already finished. My body, completely scratched and bitten, was already closing up in small superficial cuts that would heal in a few days. The blood had been spilled, was already dry, and its smell was faint. Lancelot's body showed the same stages as mine, but with slightly more advanced healing, probably due to his different species. Most of his body was covered in scars that would never disappear. The deeper the cut, the less chance it would disappear. The power of the person who delivered the blow was also a crucial factor. I wondered about the things he must have gone through. In fact, come to think of it, I didn't even know his age.
