The realization hits me immediately after the thought forms. Shit. Kydra quietly enters my study later, carrying several stacked books against her chest. I pretend to continue reading the documents in front of me even though I’ve barely understood a single line since she walked in. The room stays quiet except for the soft sound of books shifting onto shelves. At some point my eyes lift toward her again. She moves carefully around the library, fixing books with surprising patience while loose strands of dark hair fall around her face. Her bangs still cover too much.

She opens it by trailing a zig zag pattern and chanting something my mind cannot even grasp. My stomach muscles churn as anxiety and eagerness are flooding me the moment we step inside. I release the breath I didn’t know I was holding after I scan the surroundings of a pretty much regular room, a table with four chairs in the middle, and a bookshelf holding some old, dusty, worn out books that seem to disintegrate any minute now. “A library within another library.” Blake voices looking around, his eyes conflicted. Kendra motions us to have a seat, and then she takes out a large book from the shelves, we flinch as the book hits the table with a thud.

"Again, I'm afraid I'll have to refuse. I'm busy during the day, working at the library." Dummy. Of course I did. In fact, Lia had read all about her and knew the woman had been recently appointed as head librarian. But maybe she could spend some time there. It might even be a better place to approach her and engage her in conversation. "Excuse me." The woman behind Lia nudged her. "There are still some of us waiting to get our books signed. "Oh. Yes." Lia glanced over her shoulder and flashed an apologetic smile. "Sorry." But still she stood there, unwilling to move away yet.

she begged and pinched her brows, making a look of helplessness. "Every written word is important, Lorraine. It's rather better to ask for a summary of the book than say 'only the important part of the book', okay?" Herla corrected her. Lorraine remembered her school librarian. This would have been the exact same response they would give to anyone who insinuated there's a part of a book that was less important than another. "Are you a librarian?" Lorraine's eyes followed Herla as she flapped her wings. "Yes. I used to be a librarian."

Melinda's and Kieran's sharp, piercing eyes, scanned the endless rows of books. Zora led them around the library, pointing out the different sections and genres. There were books on philosophy, science, art, and history, each one meticulously cataloged and arranged on the shelves. The titles were written in elegant calligraphy, and the bindings were richly adorned with gold leaf and embossed lettering. Kieran and Melinda were overwhelmed by the sheer size of the collection, and they couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at the sheer amount of knowledge that was contained within these walls.

The library was huge, stretching two stories, filled with rare leather-bound volumes and banned books that I was amazed to see were in existence. I started at the bottom shelf, my fingers running over the spines. Observing everything. I was looking for anything related to fire, old records, or criminal history. Anything to connect the phoenix pendant to the men who killed my parents. An hour into the work, the library door opened, and Lucian walked in. He looked even more severe than yesterday, his face pale and drawn. He was holding a stack of files and moved with a careful, almost stiff slowness. "Elara." He didn't ask what I was doing; he clearly knew. "You're still here."

It was Kendra, the head cheerleader and self-proclaimed future Luna of the Riverwood Pack. "Hey, Lilly," Kendra said, her saccharine voice dripping with false sweetness. "I was wondering if you could put in a good word for me with your brother.” Lilly let out the breath that she was holding. “Sure, Kendra, but you’re the sixth she-wolf this morning who asked me to do the same thing. I'm wondering if I must carry a book to make a list. By the end of the school day, I have forgotten 99% of the girls' names.” What Lilly had told Kendra was a heap of bullshit, but if it meant that she would leave her alone for the rest of the day while she went on her wild goose chase, it would be worth it.

' thought Kiara with a bitter smile while remembering the faces of madam Karla , Justin and James . " ........I better start reading before someone comes here . That way I can finish faster . ' thought Kiara and gathered herself together . She looked around and suddenly came to notice that the library was huge . There were countless ways and the bookshelf reached the ceiling . She looked at her feet then at the bookshelf again .

The woman stood behind the podium; her old, but unworked hands, smoothing out the precious pages. “Welcome to my library,” The woman said, her eyes flashing to them. “Can I help you find something?” The librarian had a reputation about her, stories whispered on sleepless nights. Her name was Claudia, and she had been in the library for as long as anyone could remember. Claudia’s book held more than the location of library books; it was said to hold every answer imaginable. The volume was magic; so much so that it was a part of the woman’s soul, and only she could read its pages. To every other eye, it was completely and utterly blank.

“That would depend on how the evening ends, don’t you think?” Why did she say that, she thought, and why did she say it in such a seductive tone? She heard the words coming out of her mouth, but her ears refused to believe they were hers. Creighton stared at her with a surprised expression and then chuckled, taking another drink from his glass. “Tell me Miss Dennis, what do you do for a living?” Changing the subject, he tactfully and successfully moved on to safer ground and she instantly relaxed again. “I’m the head librarian for a very tiny public library in Kansas.”
