Broken Nightmare

He shakes his head and looks at me, his face appearing tired when he whispers, “Hardly.”
I try to pull away again, but it’s no use, I can’t beat him. So I stop, let myself go limp as I close my eyes in surrender.
The moment he relaxes his grip, I kick my foot as hard as I can, my boot hitting my target as he loosens his grip and I dropped to the floor.
I sprung toward Claire, my fingers slipped to her blood-covered wrist as I searched for a pulse. My eyes fixed on the bite mark gnashing from her side and I felt almost nauseous seeing the wound.
