She only kept an intense stare at the body, seeming to analyse him from whatever reason. She finally made a move after a minute, raising her finger before pricking it with one of her nails. Well, it couldn’t really count as a prick and was more of a deep jab but Alex didn’t care to pick on such minute details and only watched in curiosity. After a moment of silence, blood finally came tricking out of her cut, Amber having to encouraging it multiple times. She brought her bloodied finger to Alex lips before smearing it over them, enough for some to make it into his mouth.

The rest of the walk home is a blur of self-hatred and exhaustion. I replay the night in fragments—the bar, the drink, his eyes finding me across the dim room, the weight of his body on mine, the sharp pain of the bite, the strange, terrifying pleasure that came after it. Each memory is a fresh wound. I prod at them like a tongue prodding a sore tooth, unable to stop.
