The Empress sits on a silver chair next to the Emperor’s throne but Venus is not sitting on it. Instead, she is made to stand next to the throne as a sign of her actual status: a low level Omega.

🕷️ Vaerion POV The throne room smelled of polished stone, old banners, and fear carefully hidden beneath ceremony. King Edric sat where kings were supposed to sit. Straight-backed. Crowned. Dressed in dark blue and silver, with the golden wolf of his line resting heavily over his chest. A convincing picture. An empty one. I stood in the shadow behind his throne, where the light from the high windows failed to reach. No one looked at me for more than a heartbeat. Most did not look at all.

It was his brothers. Caleb and Asher had subtly moved their rolling leather chairs directly flanking my presentation podium at the center of the oval. Because the massive mahogany table featured an expansive, solid wood modesty panel that completely blocked the stockholders' view from the waist down, no one in the room could see what was happening beneath the surface.
