Every time I did, I just saw those sharp, dark eyes looking up at me from the head of the table. "Prove it," he’d said. "Watch me," I whispered into the empty room. The game was on. And God help anyone who got in the way, especially Eli, and especially my brother. Because when it came to something this perfect, I didn't know how to share, and I definitely didn't know how to lose. I could feel the obsession starting to take root, deep and ugly and beautiful all at once. It wasnt just a bet, it was a war. And I had every intention of being the last man standing.

He told me about my hunt for this woman, and for so long, it has been lost on me who she could be. “Who is she?” I ask slowly, already feeling like my world is collapsing with just the look on Grey's face. “She’s the King’s mother," he breathes.

Father was talking to a messenger boy as I faced Gwen who was seriously thinking as she stared at the board on my desk. "The king." She responded. "Why?" I asked as I picked up the lonesome king. "Because the king determines if he ends the game or not." Gwen explained as I laughed. I sat down and placed the pieces and had all the pieces fall on their faces. Gwen came closer as I rearranged the pieces. "The most powerful piece in chess is the one who controls the flow of the game. In short, the player who wins." I responded as I used a pawn to checkmate the king.

Brian took out a piece of paper and read from it. “For this round, we would be playing the game of... Chess” and there were applause and cheers from the people. The game of chess was one of the games the royals in the werewolf clan enjoyed. In this game, the wisdom of the kings are being tested. Then there's koningspelen, Kingsplay, which is for the kids the day before Kingsday usually. The King (Willem Alexander) is a big sports fan and wanted to promote sports. So hence the sportday/Kingsplay. G**gle Kingsday to see all the crazy stuff we do. Lol. We're not really patriotic, except in sport or on Kingsday ;) anyway, I'm going to take a bunch of painkillers and see if I feel better.
