Rain’s POV The morning started all hot and steamy as my treasure woke me from my slumber with slow soft kisses. After a nice long shower and breakfast I was ready to start my day. I mind linked Mack and Icy and Noah and ShyElle to meet me in the library. I smiled to my treasure as he poured himself another cup of coffee and told him I was off to the library for a meeting with my guards and their mates.

When was the last time I was nervous about something as simple as a gift? “Oh, Richard,” she gasped, and I breathed a sigh of relief. “Richard, this book isn't out yet! I got it on pre-order, but it won't be released till another six months gone by. How did you ever — ” she flipped it open, tears escaping her eyes when she saw the personally written note inside. It was from Nina Simone, her favorite romance author. “Is this...is this from her? Richard, please tell me you were the one who wrote this...”

he murmured. With trembling hands, I reached for his tie, my tears flowing freely down my cheeks. "Kiss me… Or… let me kiss you." Tucker's eyes darkened, his calm facade slipping away. He said nothing in response. But before I could react, he leaned in close. Holding the back of my neck, he pressed his lips firmly to mine. There was nothing gentle about his kiss. Instead, it brimmed with a sense of ownership and power. Without hesitation, he pried my jaws apart. His tongue explored boldly, leaving no corner of my mouth untouched.

The energy pulsed through her fingertips. Rain found the book in question and held it. She put the rest of the books back on the table. "Here he is!" she said. Apparently, it was just an ordinary notebook that looked old but not as old as Mark's other collection of books. The notebook cover was made and handwritten by Rain's father himself. Rain was sure that the book contained the results of research on symbols and runes that had only been used for a short time. Very few people understand the meaning of these symbols. But Rain could suddenly read everything as clearly as if she could read a novel.

His hands are shaking. "Are you okay," I say. "No." "What do you need." "I do not know yet." "That is okay." "Is it." "Yes. Not knowing is okay. You do not have to know everything right away." He looks at me. "That is my line." "I know. I borrowed it." "With interest?" "With interest." He kisses my forehead. He walks out of the study. He closes the door. I am alone. The notebook is in my hands. Blue. Leather. Heavy.

All normal, maddeningly normal, in contrast to the tangle within me. Classes have droned by. I sat at the back, notebook open, pen poised in hand, but far from those lectures as the voices of my professors sounded equally as muffled as when they spoke underwater. What did replay, however, was every detail of that kiss—the pressure of his lips, the hesitant yet undeniable passion, and the way his body fit against mine. It consumed me. When I attempted to write up notes, I ended up doodling. Little sketches of flowers and meaningless swirls, everything he'd drawn were to end up with a horror of something that resembled a capital "V." I slammed the notebook shut, my cheeks hot. A wave of disgust washed over me, and I retched. In the many years I had been with Shawn, he had never kissed me during our most intimate moments. He said he had germophobia, and I bought into it. The truth was that his lips were reserved for the love of his life. Picking up on the noise, the pair in the bedroom looked over. They were the ones having a rendezvous. Yet, I took cover without a second thought. I shuddered from the cold and prayed that Casey would leave soon. I waited an hour, but she didn’t seem to be going anywhere.

Marigold was in the back seat of the Cayenne, using a toy to coax Daniel into the car while I was stuffing the last package into the trunk. The car window was down, and Eleanor had a clear view of everything. She walked over and called my name. "Ivy Lane?" The bag I held slipped from my hands, spilling Daniel's diapers and baby bottles onto the ground. Eleanor frowned and lowered her voice. "You two… have known each other for a long time, haven't you?"

Her eyes drifted towards Sharon and she could only but imagine why Sharon is being all nice and trying to treat her like some queen of the island. She wasn’t comfortable with Sharon writing her note for her while she just sat and did nothing but not like she had a choice though. She just sat and paid utmost attention to the lecturer’s explanations as she explained sentence for sentence. “I’m all done.!” Sharon said as she handed her book and pen back to her smiling. “Oh my! Thank You, I really do appreciate this.” Cercei said quietly as she smiled back at Sharon then immediately opened her book to see the written note. “Your handwriting is so beautiful too.” Cercei smiling sheepishly at Sha
