I whispered, looking up at the cigar between his fingers. He turned around slowly in my arms, his silver eyes trailing down my damp, naked body before rising back to my face. Without a word, he lifted the cigar and held it to my lips. As I leaned in, my lips brushed the tip, tasting the lingering, intoxicating wetness of his mouth. The intimacy of it made my core throb again. I took a deep drag. Instantly, the harsh, heavy smoke hit the back of my throat. I broke apart from him, coughing violently, my chest heaving as the smoke burned my unaccustomed lungs.

It was greedy and possessive, a reclamation of the skin he’d almost lost to the fire. Instead, I exhaled slowly, the smoke slipping out past my lips and into the space between us. Enzo’s gaze dropped, following the motion. His jaw tightened. “You smoke now?” he asked, voice low and rough around the edges. “That the first thing you’re gonna say to me?” I asked, handing it back. “Not even a ‘missed you’? You really think that kiss was enough for two days?”
