Gina opened the door in yoga pants and an oversized sweater, hair in a messy bun.
“Tess? You okay? You look—”
“I need to talk,” Tessa said, stepping inside before Gina could finish.
They ended up in the kitchen, Gina pouring two glasses of wine—then remembering, switching Tessa’s to sparkling water.
Tessa didn’t sit, she paced. “I just ran into Klara. She’s coming to Chicago.”
Gina set the glass down. “You’re kidding.”
“She played the whole ‘poor me’ act,” Tessa said. “Like I’m the villain for not wanting Roman’s obsessive ex around him. Around us.”
