‘Knock’ Knock’ A soft knock echoed twice on Camila’s room door while she lazily stormed up from the bed and strolled to the door. She pulled it open and leaned on the door. In front of her was her worst nightmare: a man standing there with a well-equipped shotgun in his hands. Camila gulped and looked away.

Knock knock knock There was a knock on the door, and Vallen remained silent until it was confirmed that the person who came was not an enemy or someone who was after her life, "Daughter, it looks like someone is out there. Why don't you open the door?" she asked. "Sorry, Gran, until we can confirm who knocked on the door. I can't just open the door." Vallen replied with a shake of her head. Then the next second, there was another knock on the door from outside and someone's voice. "Honey... are you in this room? Tell me, dear. I'm sorry I came too late and put you in danger."

*Knock, Knock, knock* I no longer felt like I belonged. Everything just felt strange and so Modern. The knocking on the door just felt like background noise as I completely ignored it to focus on wallowing in my own misery. *Knock ,knock ,knock * I could hear the door slowly crack open but I still did not move from my spot on the bed. The darkness brought me comfort and made me feel more at home. Unfortunately for me the person who entered opened the blinds and light immediately flashed across the room and blinded my eyes.

I will never be able to forgive myself if something happens to him because of me. A knock on the door brings me out of my thoughts. I look up from my book towards the door. Who is it now? I don't want to meet anyone. I want to be alone. I don't want to answer so that whoever is at the door leaves thinking that I am asleep. As decided, I don’t answer but then the person on the other side of the door knocks again.

KESTER. I knocked again. Harder this time. The kind of knock that wasn't asking permission — it was a warning. I swear to fuck, I was seconds away from tearing this damn door off its hinges. I didn't care if it splintered. I didn't care if Claire came home to a crime scene of wood and rage. But Claire was so lucky that Kasmine opened it before I could make that mistake. She barely got the words out. "What the hell are you—"

Knock! The mahogany wooden door was knocked with a firm and confident stride. Christian Vance stepped inside, unbuttoning his luxurious gray suit jacket with a disciplined masculine movement.
