Most people knock on doors with a pattern of either two short knocks and one long or two long and one short. But this person outside was different. The knocking rhythm even reminded me of a familiar childhood tune. But that didn't help with my morning grumpiness.

“Knock” “Knock” I hear a pounding sound from the door and realize that it is the owner and this time he means business because when I look out the window before opening the door, I notice that he looks pissed. Murmuring softly before opening it, “I bet he heard the commotion and is here to get rid of me, if not worse.”

**KNOCK**KNOCK** She knocks on their door because it is locked. Someone inside unlocks the door, "Welcome back home, Joenabell." Karene greets her with an awkward smile on her face. Karene is surprised earlier at Cheryl as if she wants to kill someone. Karene can't help but be scared to Cheryl's wrathful aura. "Where's mom?" Joenabell asked heavily while breathing for air. Joenabell feels her feet throbs from running without preparing herself to run. "Do you want some water, Joenabell?" Karene looks concerned with the girl in front of the door.

He peeked out from behind the opening of the barrel. Knock! Knock! Knock! There was a loud knock on the door. Bowen was silent while holding his breath. His face was agitated. His hand gripped his flagship blacksmith hammer tightly. KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK! This time the knock on the door was louder. Bowen stood tensed at the door. His grip on his flagship blacksmith hammer was getting tighter. His eyes stared intently at the door in front of him, which was made of solid teak wood. He hoped the door was strong enough to hold back whoever was behind the door, the uninvited guest. He swallowed hard.

The door loomed before me, a light orange hue—a mockery of warmth against the encroaching night, perhaps a remnant of Halloween. I exhaled slowly, steadying myself, then raised my fist and struck the door—three hard raps against the frame that shattered the silence. Each knock reverberated in my bones, an urgent summons that echoed back at me, demanding not just entrance but a reckoning with whatever lay beyond that threshold.

I continued reading the book and there was nothing that could take my attention away from it since I was enjoying the storyline way too much but just then I heard a loud knock on the door. I was so focused on the book that the sudden and loud interruption made me jump out of my wits. Oh My God… I placed a hand on my chest as I took a calming breath. That scared the shit out of me. There was another knock on the door and I stood up from the bed to walk towards the door. Who the hell is so impatient?! They’re knocking on the door like their life depends on it!

Knuckles rap against my wooden door and I drop the book I'd been trying unsuccessfully to read the last two hours. My heart immediately accelerates. The last time I opened my door to a knock it wasn't good news. Quietly, so as not to let anyone figure out I'm here, I ninja-walk my way to the living room. My apartment is not that large, so it doesn't take long.

I just grunted, not bothering with words. I hung up and sprawled out on my bed, eyes fixed on the ceiling. Maybe my mom had a point. I would give it a few days, and things would look up. A month went by. I clocked out early that day, and I got home by 5:30 p.m. Stepping out of the elevator, I was greeted by three men at my door. Dressed in black jackets, they were in a heated discussion with the building's management. "If she's not home, she's not home. We'll wait," they said.

Year 1863 Knock ... knock, knock ... Thea turned around. Without even opening the door, she knew who was standing behind it. The beat was Kay's signature beat. Thea ignored him.
