A good run will clear my head. With that thought I rip my shirt off and sprint in the direction of the forest.

(AHVI'S POINT OF VIEW) Run… The voice behind me says, causing me to run faster. Gasps and sobs of fear leave my quivering lips. The sky is murky and the forest is opaque and damp; there isn't a path ahead but I only run deeper without a sense of destination. I just want to get away from that taunting yet familiar voice, and I want to run faster than the running feet behind me, pursuing my life.

“We’ll go somewhere they can’t follow.” And this time, I didn’t look back.

I beg to the sky as I turn, using the dirt to run the fastest I ever have in my life. I just hope it’s fast enough.

I murmur to myself before I hear the tell-tale sign of the bus horn in the distance. Hoping that they get here, and the bus doesn’t decide to stop along the road, I run out the door and wait patiently by the side of the road as I stare at it slowly driving down towards home. Shaking my head, I wrench my shirt between my closed fists into a knot and say over and over again, “Please hurry, before anything else bad happens.”

~Katarina~ I run through the woods, my feet not moving fast enough. I’d much rather have Hope make this journey, but she’s struggling right now. Our pup is gone, and Hope is going feral. I continue through the woods, chasing the scent that was left behind. The scent is familiar, and I know who it belongs to. I have to hope that I can get to them before they get too far. I feel a crowd of people following me. I know that they are chasing me through the woods to give me support. I stay focused on the road ahead. I can’t afford to cut my focus because I might lose my chance to get my child back.

And so, with each step I take, a glimmer of hope pierces through the darkness that threatens to consume me. The land stretches out endlessly before me, a barren landscape that appears to be devoid of life. The road ahead is treacherous, filled with obstacles and challenges that test my determination at every turn. But I press on, driven by a fierce longing to reunite with my loved one's once more.

It is because of all these wrongs that I ran and will keep on running. The safe-haven I call the town line finally comes into view, bringing renewed hope into my being. I take the chance to pick up speed and rush into the safety net. I feel some resistance at first as if some invisible force is trying to keep me out, but I keep pushing forward, and soon I am safely across, relief causing my nerves to settle down. I turn around to face my pursuers with a smug grin, slowly walking backwards as I take in each of their faces.

I run and never look back. And now he is back…

Fast. I didn't know where I was going, but I knew I had to keep moving. As I ran, I felt a glimmer of hope. Maybe, just maybe, I could make it out alive.
