What was Morgan doing with all these books and how did he have access to the first editions of these? That was probably a question I’d never get an answer to because he never talked about anything with me. Not himself and definitely not his books. Curiosity piqued me and I opened the first book, trying to see if there was something I could find about him or his family. I took a deep breath, quite aware that I didn’t have much time to snoop around. The house was obviously empty—there’s been no sound since I got out of my room and no sign of Morgan either.

I replied. “The person behind this stole one of my books!” Morgan said slowly. “I told my men to search my library secretly and my journal wasn't found. I used to keep it under the ground around the place I sat. The journal is missing and the implicating map was put in another book of mine.” “How does the journal look?” I asked slowly. “Meet Jojo and ask him. He will be your new ally…” Morgan replied. I was now ready to go. I stood up and gave Morgan a warm hug. I wondered how much I would have missed if I didn't visit Morgan. I left his place with new secrets, information, and power.

“I know he attacked me, but he was only suspicious; it’s okay to have suspicions and test out the subject.” She shrugged, lowering her shoulders as she arched her back to get a better view of the clouds. I really didn’t understand why she kept staring, but it felt more spiritual to me than physical. “Kyle is an underground agent for the Moon Hound Pack. No one knew how he communicated with them without leaving the kingdom or sending messenger wolves.” “Ultrasound!”

Another in the courtyard, where she sat with Skylar, laughing at something, and I hid in the shadows just to watch her. She was so beautiful and so alive and for one perfect moment, I forgot everything and I just watched her, and I loved her, and I wished— "Kaelric." Morgan's voice shattered the moment. I turned to find her standing behind me, her expression soft with concern that I didn't believe for a second. "What do you want?" She moved closer, lowering her voice. "I need to talk to you privately." "I'm busy." "You're dying." She said it flatly, without emotion. "I can see it. Everyone can see it. You have maybe a week left, Kaelric, less if the bond deepens further."

In the open they wouldn't be able to concentrate the gas or keep them in one place long enough for them to take in enough of the gas. Kyle finally ran out of steam and stood in a daze in the middle of the room. He was gasping for breath which only served to bring the gas deeper into his lungs. After a few minutes, his eyes rolled back and he passed out, falling to his side. Morgan ran to the window and looked at his son laying on the floor, not moving. "Is he alive?" He couldn't take his eyes off his son. He felt tears forming and was glad Carr was the only other Alpha here. Torrance and Campbell would never let up if they saw him break down.

I breathed, my heart racing a little faster than its normal pace. “So what do you need us for?” Caine asked. There was a brief moment of silence, alpha Morgan’s eyes leaving us and running through the people in the room. They returned to us, but different this time. “I want you and your friends to find the book. Your uncle and his team might have a lead, but I doubt they would be able to do the job,” he said. Was it pride or adrenaline? I couldn’t describe what I felt that rushed down my nerves. Maybe it was a mix of both until I was faced with the question if I was part of his friends.

Morgan glanced toward his waiting vehicles, then back again. “If you need guidance,” he said, “with the allies, with leadership, with stabilizing a pack that was allowed to drift too far into old debts…” He let the sentence rest for a heartbeat. “I’m available.” There it was. Not an alliance. Not quite. But not nothing. Decker held his gaze. “Guidance.” Morgan’s mouth twitched. “I know how that sounds to a new Alpha.” “Manipulative?” Megan almost smiled. Morgan actually did. “Suspicious,” he corrected. “And possibly insulting.”

“Cub?” I looked upon from the book I was reading. I had settled myself in my favorite window, curled up with one of the many books in Morgan’s library. Kai and I had been having a serious discussion about the main character being an idiot when Morgan had come in. “Maybe you should talk to him.”

A dorky-looking girl with spectacles sitting peacefully on her nose, and a book clutched to her chest. “Hi, I'm Morgan.” The girl introduced herself, sitting down beside Kelly even without Kelly's permission. Kelly didn't reply, she was busy taking in the girl's appearance. “I've noticed the way you've been staring at Adrian since last week,” Morgan rambled on, “I understand you. Adrian is every girl's dream.” “I don't know what you're talking about.” Kelly said in a tight voice, “Every girl's dream maybe, but definitely not mine.” “Did you two break up your friendship?” Morgan asked, “I've noticed since last week he's been acting a bit distant towards you. And you're the one staring at him

Turning my attention back to my Kings surrounding me, I pull out of Levi’s arms, ignoring his protests, and reach over to take the book from Kenji. “In all seriousness,” I tell them, examining the book that I found, The Forbidden Magic of Powerful Beings. Sounds like the title of the book that would have the magic we are looking for. “We need to figure out if this is the book that we need and then we need to head to the Vampire Realm in search of Morgana.”
