The torches lining the walls flickered. Then flared. Gasps rippled through the hall. Lily sucked in a breath. “No,” she whispered. Golden light traced faint lines under her skin. Visible. Unmistakable. The noble took a step back. “See?” he said loudly. “Unstable!” The word cracked something open inside her. The chandeliers above the hall trembled. Glass crystals rattled. Wind rushed through the sealed room — not cold, not warm, just force. Lily staggered.

The furnitures in the room and the private balcony stashed with vintage wines. I hadn't noticed when the maids left, shutting the door behind me. I jerked and rushed to open the door but it wouldn't open. I tugged at the diamond shaped knob, banging slowly to draw their attention. My heart throbbed violently and my legs trembled as I kept banging for help but nothing. Nothing until there was a sound. The chill rustling of a foot scraping on the floor. A figure stepped out of the shadow with an aura that sent a chill down my spine.

The shard in Anna’s hand pulsed with warmth, as if guiding her steps. The gathered students watched in tense silence as Principal Katie raised her staff and began chanting a spell. Energy crackled in the air, and a massive mirror appeared at the front of the great hall, its surface rippling like water. “This mirror leads to the Labyrinth of Reflections,” Principal Katie announced. “It’s a realm between worlds, where reality bends and truth reveals itself. She tried pushing it but it did not budge. Stepping back, she surveyed it for a moment. Made in sapphire crystal-like materials, the door had swirl carvings all over it. The pattern was captivating. It appears to dance as the light hits it. Feeling the need to but not understanding why, Luna reached out and traced the carved pattern with her fingers. Moving up until she’s on tiptoes. She strained to reach the connected swirls. Then began to trace it back down again while murmuring to herself.

I heard the first years whispering to each other. They were completely caught in a trance just by looking at Liliana near. I guess Liliana’s beauty really works on everybody.
