Mom used to say there was no point for a girl to buy property in a big city and that there would always be a room for me at home. I had believed her. I thought she just didn’t want me to exhaust myself, that she meant home would always be my safe harbor. However, when I actually returned, I realized not a single tile in that house belonged to me, let alone a room. Lying on the soft bed in my own apartment, I remembered how my coworkers had reacted recently when they saw me. "Wow, Elowen, you look totally different lately. You’ve gotten prettier. What are you using?"

Wendy sighed as she looked through the window. “What do you think is happening?” Her mother asked her. “I can see the landlord shouting at him so it’s probably because of the rent. I should go check what’s happening,” Wendy said and together with her mum, they went outside. I was also curious about what was going on so I followed closely behind them. Just opposite Wendy’s house, I could see a little girl crying and kneeling on the floor as she begged who I guess is the landlord. The man standing beside her was also begging. I felt compassion for them, especially the little girl who was crying her eyes out.

"It's my uncle's place, of course, the deed should be in his name! What, are you saying your name's on the deed?" The blond punk had a disdainful look on his face. Wendy tried to persuade me. "Stop causing a scene, Jessica. Since the landlord is already here, you should just move out." The punk ignored me and swaggered into the apartment, wandering around for a while. When he came back out, he glared at me viciously. "Hey! Where's that Lego set on the TV cabinet in the living room? Did you steal it? That was a limited edition worth 40 grand! Hand it over right now!"

“Please, sir, I just need a few more days. I have some designs that will soon be picked up, and as soon as I get paid, I’ll—” The landlord cut her off. “You’ve been saying that for months. I have my own expenses to handle, I don’t care if you’re designing for the Royal family, pay up by Wednesday! It’s my last warning.” The man fumed as he cut her off leaving her to stare at the blank screen. Scarlet stood there in silence, gripping the phone as her mind spun with worry. But before she could take a moment to gather herself, she heard a small rustle from behind her. Turning around, she saw her daughter standing in the doorway, her innocent eyes wide with concern.

She's too broke to even buy a meal, so why is she sending her cash to someone else? "I had a hunch that something didn't add up. Digging into the name, I discovered that this kid, Frank, was living in Grand Willow Estate, right in the heart of downtown. It's one of the swankiest places in town, with each unit sprawling over two hundred square meters, and the rent? It starts at a steep seventy-five thousand dollars a year!" Jessica was fuming as she recounted, "So I did a little snooping at the Grand Willow Estate's management office. The lease is in Frank's name, alright, but guess what? The rent for the past three years has been coming straight out of Evelyn's bank account!

May smiled and said, "I'm twenty-seven, but I'm still the little baby in my parents' hearts." A rare heart-to-heart conversation between the two mother and daughter, May finally got rid of the arrow hanging over her heart after understanding Jessica's thoughts. It was a little after four in the afternoon when Morgan returned from socializing. Seeing Jessica Terry and May playing Landlord in the living room, Morgan was momentarily taken aback, "Who is the landlord?" May smiled and said, "Me." Morgan took off his coat and walked over to May. "Jessica has grown up and joined others in bullying Mom," he said.

‘Yes, we are. Shut up, Argus! I would never harm Hera. Stepping forward, I extend my hand. “I mean no harm, Mike. I am the landlord of this establishment. She is a tenant. That’s all there is to it.” “I remember all your past deeds,” he sneers, shaking my hand firmly before closing the distance between us. “She may not be my own daughter, but I care for her deeply. Do not even think about taking advantage of her for a fortune you will never obtain.”

Isabella tries to cut through the thick tension, but Mother cuts her off. “Yes, you are the wealthiest of us all. You've broken astronomical records and amassed great power! But, I will not stand and watch my son continue with his madness! Someone has to call you to order. And that someone…” She places her hand on Amelia's shoulder, “... is a wife. Not that tramp perched on your thigh!!!” “Enough!” I roar.

Without a second thought, Mandy shook her head and quietly said, “I know you might have a secret stash, but there’s no need to act so rashly. We really can’t afford to offend that person…” “Hahahaha!” The landlord was complacent upon hearing her. “You brat, even your lady knows that you can’t be opposing me. Why are you still here spouting nonsense?! “Say what, if you give me your lady, and I’ll hand you fifteen thousand dollars? Maybe thirty thousand?” The landlord was on his high horse, it seemed like this was not his first time doing such things.
