Martin gave a small nod of acknowledgment, while Mary smiled.
Kamala took a seat and set her recorder on the coffee table. She clicked it on and said, “Mrs. Norris, could you tell me what happened here last night?”
Mrs. Norris clasped her hands in her lap and sighed heavily. “It was such a calm evening,” she began, her voice trembling slightly. “We were preparing for my sister Mary’s grandson’s birthday party. It was supposed to be today, but everything was ruined because of the shooting.”
