I laughed out loud into the perfect quiet of my midnight room. I laughed until my stomach muscles hurt. I laughed until hot, angry tears pricked at the corners of my eyes, but I didn’t let them fall.

My throat was clogged. It felt like there was a heavy stone blocking my airways making me want to cry even more. I looked up into the sky and blinked back the tears aggressively. I laughed mentally at the image of how I must have looked trying so hard not to cry. I couldn’t laugh in reality. Because nothing was funny.

A rare opportunity. But just like a typical ego-filled man will do, the young man laughed out loud to the extent that tears began dropping down his cheeks. Such a drama queen he was.
