“Scouts?” Lira whispered.
Kael nodded. “Silver Ash. But they’re moving differently, faster.”
The scouts were examining the ruins, each carrying fragments of glowing crystal, remnants of the Crown’s energy. When one of them lifted a shard, the air shimmered, revealing an afterimage, Evelyn’s silhouette, just for a second, standing amid light.
