Evelyn and Elsie giggle, nudging her shoulders. I stay quiet. The laughter fades into a low hum as I study them—Melanie, the woman practically promised to Evren, and Elsie, Reed’s ex. Reed told me during our parents’ engagement party that Evren had no plans to move forward with that engagement, that he was already finding a way to end it. Reed also swore he was done with Elsie too. And just days ago, Evren told me that they weren’t interested in breaking the mate bond because they wanted me. Wanted me as their mate.

Arella’s POV “You smell like Papa,” Eva noticed instantly and looked up at me with her big, blue eyes so much like her father’s. I blushed, looking at Zane to take over this whole conversation, who grinned and winked, like the wolf who just got the crème. I rolled my eyes at him, deciding that the Alpha King was just way too arrogant for his own good... We were mated!

I know that the day isn't over, but usually, your mate's scent is strong and I would’ve already sensed her the moment I stepped out of my car. I remember when Jay found out that Amy, Eric’s sister, was his mate. He could smell her from her house. He said her scent was so strong he could smell her in his dreams. The poor girl didn't even make it out of her bed that day. Speaking of mates, Evie found out that Jerry, Ivan’s Delta, was her mate when he returned to school. She now resides in the Midnight pack. It was a hard decision for her because she was leaving her parents and her best friend. I wondered how Natalie would take the news when she found out Evie wasn’t here anymore.

Adam and I were both just confused. "Why are you in here?" He asked them. He turned to me. "Why are you in here?" I could only stutter as I turned back and forth between Adam, Jace, and Vega. Vega was near tears. "Evie, I promise I was going to tell you eventually..." "Tell me what?!" I saw the way Jace looked at her and came to a sudden realization. "Are you mates?" Vega's eyes widened and she shook her head. "No, no! We're just... together?"

“No, Lis. You do not need to worry about how this affects me. He is your mate and, as someone who tried, that’s not an easy bond to fight. I would never want you to and miss out on a love like Fin and I have. We will figure it out.” I hiccuped, trying to keep the sobs pressing against my throat from escaping. “How? You know the council would never allow it.” Lacey sighed. “I know the elders won’t like it, but a chunk of the council is in this room right now,” Lacey said, pointing between her, Sydney, and myself. “We will figure out a way to tell the elders. We just have to be smart about it, make them feel like it’s their idea, and if we can get the whole council to present it then it will b

We both groan in unison, just under our breath, at the injustice of a week more of school. “Pfft, they're not my friends anyway.” Eve can't help herself, and I throw her a pointed stare that seems to penetrate something in her attitude and makes her pipe down. She turns away to stare out of the window instead. “This is done for now. It’s late, and we all need to get some sleep. Go shower, both of you. That muddy coloured ash you are caked in is the charred, vulgar remains of hundreds of dead vampires from a decade ago…. might want not to be breathing it in or wearing it like a second skin. It’s dead ferals.”

They didn't forget what she had been desiring for so long. "I am a part of you... I will be stubborn at times and will not always listen to you, but yes, we are one, and I want you to be happy always. Especially when it comes to our mates," Estelle said to Evelyn. "I love you!" Evelyn jumped in excitement. Handing the piece of clothing to Balze and Estelle, Jayden mind linked everyone in the pack house, telling them not to be in the living room. "But how do I shift back into my human form?" Evelyn asked Estelle.

I hissed annoyingly at Bob, pulled out a chair, and sat down. “Yeah!” Eve agreed and turned around. “Love birds are cute. You’re a king vulture,” she murmured. “What did you say?” I growled, standing up. I groaned, unsure why I was too pissed at her at the moment. “Where are you going? You’re supposed to be writing the minutes,” I reminded her. “I’m getting my lunch,” Eve said, blinking her eyes adorably at me. I scowled but did not say anything, letting her leave the room. When I raised my head, I caught Bob staring at me.

She secretly clenched her fist as her murderous intent towards Eve's father who's named Xian rose. Seeing that she was silent, Eve let out a laugh as she patted her shoulder. “It's already up to you, my golden backer to wipe the Marvick Clan. Hehe, just don't kill those innocent people even if they are in the Marvick Clan.” Evelyn nodded her head. “I know, I understand. However, what about Mr. Valcarcel? Do you want me to kill him?” Eve shook her head. “No, it's fine. You can't defeat him anyway ( you'll fall in love instead).”

Evan closed his eyes, gripping the wine glass so tightly it nearly shattered in his hand. Selena blinked, thinking that he was no longer angry. She quickly wiped her tears away and threw herself into his arms. "You're the best, Chief Healer Evan!" Evan's gaze drifted unfocused. Breathing in the suffocating floral perfume, he found himself regretting his decision. In order to rebel against his forced mate bond, he had chosen a foolish childhood sweetheart who had now turned him into the laughingstock of the entire healing community.
