“As your best friend, I officially refuse to let you drown in sadness tonight.” I shook my head slightly. “You’re ridiculous.” “And you love me.” I sighed softly. “Unfortunately.” “There she is,” Lizzie said proudly. “I was wondering where my dramatic billionaire best friend disappeared to.” I rolled my eyes weakly. But somehow… My chest felt slightly lighter. Only slightly. Lizzie suddenly gasped dramatically. “Oh my God.” I frowned. “What?” “I completely forgot to tell you something.” I looked at her suspiciously. “What now?” A mischievous smile spread across her face.

I ask. “Basement. He mostly hangs out in the basement. It has everything there. Pool table and all.” Lizzie educates me. “Oh.” I say. I feel more safe with Lizzie. I feel like she knows how to handle herself. She has her gray hair tied up in a bun and she looks badass. She walks confidently in the house and takes a staircase which I think leads to the basement. I follow her closely behind. As we descend the stairs, I hear loud music blaring. I fight the urge to cover my ears.

I directly asked. Lizzy seemed troubled; she started biting her nails. "Alpha Shin—I haven’t met him in person yet. I’m too afraid of how he’ll take advantage of me as a Shaman. Merely hearing rumors from the other students is enough to tell me that Alpha Shin is indeed merciless," she answered me with fear in both her eyes and the way she spoke. "Putting that aside, what’s with all that blood, Luna?" Yuki could no longer contain her curiosity. I avoided making eye contact with her, thinking that she’d give up after a few minutes. However, Lizzy was the one who gave a response. "Miss Asterbelle ate the wolves in the basement."

But something was running in Emma’s mind, she looked longingly at Logan, who had an empty look on his face. "Lizzie," Daniel continued, his voice unwavering, "you manipulated a lot of creatures according to your own will. You attempted to kidnap and kill Grace, your stepdaughter, and you endangered the lives of countless others. And you even endangered the life of your own daughter. Tell me, are you refuting all these crimes even when the Werewolf Council caught you red-handed on the site." Lizzie's confidence seemed unshaken. "You can't prove a thing," she hissed, a sinister smile gracing her lips. "I've always been a step ahead of you, Daniel."

"Go home. Stay out of the crosshairs until the full moon." The Obsidian Crown Plaza was glowing with neon and death when we arrived for the gala. Malik and I entered the main hall, and immediately, the air changed. Lizzie Robinson was standing in the center of a circle of elite pack heirs, her white gown shimmering like a silver ghost. She spotted me and her smile turned razor-sharp. "Chika Whitmore! Look at you," she projected her voice, ensuring the entire room heard. "I saw the feeds, darling. Abandoned at the Silverfang Chamber. How did it feel to be the wolf no one wanted to claim?"

Feeling around for something, anything that would possibly get her off of me, my hand came in contact with one of the tablecloths used in the dining. Pulling it, I quickly grabbed it, managing to wrap it around the lady’s neck pushing her off of me before whacking her head into the ground. Repeating it more times until she finally went out cold then I fell to the ground in relief. When do I get a break again?

I jumped and unconsciously pressed closer to Jordan, he wrapped his arms around me and held me tight. "Jackson!" Jordan barked. I looked up at Jordan in time to see him give Jack a pointed look in my direction. "How are we supposed to do this, Jordan? We can't even get to the bottom of her fears without her having a panic attack," he asked, his voice sounding hopeless. My shame began to swallow me up and I laid my head on Jordan's chest trying to hold back the tears. "Lizzie's a tough girl, Jack, she can handle it. We just gotta help her past her fears," Jordan said calmly.

“Dunno, Dave. Maybe I’m lucky. Maybe I’m just smarter than people think. Is that so hard to believe?” The way she said my name —definitely not friendly. More like a dare. Lizzie grabbed my arm, nails digging in like she thought she could puppet me. “Dave, do something! Make her hand it over! It’s family property, right? She’s a Midnight, she can’t just keep it!” I looked down at her, and something inside me… flipped. Couldn’t believe I ever thought she needed protecting. She was small—like, soul-small. “Shut up, Lizzie,” I muttered. “You’re embarrassing yourself. You lost. Deal with it.”

She's shy and smart, the kind of girl who used to hide behind books and oversized hoodies until Tara basically dragged her into the world by force. Lately, Lizzie's been changing. New clothes. Better posture. More confidence. Still nervous, though. I can hear it in the way her heartbeat speeds up when too many people brush past us in the hallway. "You okay?" Lizzie asks carefully.

I hear Jeremy shout again from the floor above. “Right come on Willow, you must be ready now…you look gorgeous.” Lizzie tells me. “I don’t know about that. I have a feeling you will be the one turning heads tonight in that dress.” I add. Lizzie was stunning. She had long black hair, great big blue eyes and a body to die for. She was wearing a bright blue mini dress and tanned wedges. She never over did it unlike Samantha, who enjoyed all eyes on her. I on the other hand, liked to stay in the side lines, observing the situation and keeping a watchful eye on my 2 best friends.
