The single green leaf on the Heartroot Tree felt like a miracle, it was small, but in that vast, dead valley, it was the loudest thing Liora had ever seen and for a whole day, they just rested near the tree, watching the colour slowly creep back into the land around it. The air lost its heavy, soupy feeling and began to smell of clean earth and growing things. It was Finn who put it into words. He was staring at the leaf, a strange look on his face.
