His sharp eyes scanned the garden, taking in every detail.
I shook my head slightly and crouched near a cluster of silver-blue leaves. “Stormpetal,” I said, remembering the textbook. “It reacts to body heat. You have to pluck it fast, or it shocks you.”
Darien nodded. “Correct.”
I reached out quickly and yanked a stem. A tiny spark bit my fingers, but I got it. One down.
The others weren’t as easy.
Bloodroot Lily hid under thorny vines that lashed out if you breathed wrong. Asterleaf only showed itself in patches of moonlight, and we had to wait for the clouds to shift.
