One in particular caught her eye. Legends of the End Times. She raised an eyebrow. Okay. A little on the nose. Still, curiosity won. She pulled it from the shelf. The book snapped open as if it had been waiting for her, pages rattling violently in a still, stagnant air. Far too violently. Most were gone. Torn out. The remaining edges were clean, deliberate — like someone had chosen exactly what to leave behind. Only one page remained. Scrawled across it in uneven handwriting that wasn’t printed:

“You know it’s not that simple, not to mention this legacy my mother’s always going on about.” “What’s the point of being king of Lycans and werewolves if you can’t do what’s best for us?” Frost countered, his tone turning serious. “Tell me, what’s more important: that legacy or your happiness?” Frost eased up on the teasing, speaking more earnestly. He and Andriel were one; if Andriel’s human side perished, Frost would too, and that was something he wasn’t willing to let happen.

I explained, pointing to the book in my right hand. "I thought the book was for you to mark if I was accurate or not," Kelani said. I showed it to her, and she read the name out loud. "Prehistorical werewolves and how they came to be. A little bit of insights on others," she said. "When we are done with this, we can get another copy with more focus on others," I said. "When we are done? I don't think we can finish a copy of this book in years to come. It's fucking huge, and it looks boring as hell." She muttered.
