POV Layla The memories took me back to my childhood, to the time when I used to read my favorite book, Legend of the Lycan. I had devoured that book more than once , I knew it by heart. From the first chapter about the creation of wolves to the last one about the soulmate bond, I had always believed it told a profound truth. That was until Benjamin told me I was his mate. That fateful night after my eighteenth birthday, I realized that all those tales were nothing but lies , sweet inventions meant to make children dream. If the soulmate bond did not grant that eternal and precious connection described in the book, then surely the rest of the chapters must also be false.

“My father read me some stories during my childhood. One of our favorites is about Silvermares. I never thought it’s more than just a legend.” He placed the big book on the table. Jared and I stood beside him and watched as he flipped the pages. “I have no idea where my father gets this.
