A warmth came over me and I began rubbing her thumb gently as she fell back into cycled breathing.
"You look like you've done this before," Leo said, a hint of admiration as he took a spot on the ground near the patio doors leading to the outside.
"Once or twice," I answered, not looking up from the little girl. "My mom thinks it'll help when I become Luna one day."
"She's right," he continued. "It might not seem like it, but it's important work, keeping the pack together as a community. She's a strong leader."
I looked up at Leo, surprised. Then, that surprise turned into another smile. "Yeah, I guess she is. Your mom was too," I added.
