Let The Right One In Novels & Stories

His face was carved from stone, expressing nothing. To the right stood Otto, his chin arrogantly tilted upwards. Beside him, Cara's eyes gleamed dark — ambition, maybe. My heart ached. Damon had merited more decent enemies. He had merited better friends. He had merited more than this. Elder Gregor rose from his seat. He struck the floor once with his staff. Its sound echoed in the hall, silencing everyone in shock. "There can be only one alpha," Elder Gregor spoke, his voice gruff and heavy, "in the laws of the Moon Goddess."

The door burst open and a maid braced herself against the frame, her chest heaving. I clutched the edge of my cloak, my heart racing. "W-what... what happened?!" She took a shaky breath before speaking, "Luna, my name is Lydia. Alpha just received an urgent battle report about a dispute at the border of our territory. A rival pack crossed the boundary, seized our supplies, and injured our troops. Alpha had to go and handle it personally, so today's bonding ceremony... has to be postponed. Although the ceremony is postponed, Alpha instructed us to treat you as Luna and respect you."

"But you've got the wrong idea. I'm not here on a blind date." Wait-what? My eyes went wide. "This isn't Table 87" "Yes, this is Table 8. But it's the VIP section's Table & He casually pointed out toward the main hall. "Your Table 8 is to the left when you go back out." "O-Oh, I'm so sorry! I got the wrong table!" I wanted to crawl into a hole. No wonder he looked at me like I was nuts. I shot up from my seat and rushed out of there.

I knew I was right but yet what I was doing was insane. If I was wrong, well—the obvious would happen. "Well...there is only one way to find out." And with every bit of faith left, I threw the knife and it darted right at Elle, aimed for her abdomen.

This was it - the moment that would either vindicate her or destroy what remained of her reputation. Connor stepped forward, his voice booming across the assembled Pack. "Alpha Marcus! I invoke the Right of Public Challenge!" The entire amphitheater went silent. The Right of Public Challenge was an ancient law, rarely used, that allowed any Pack member to formally question an Alpha's decision before the assembled wolves. It was a legal challenge, not a physical one, but it carried immense political weight. Marcus Thorne, standing on the raised Alpha platform, turned slowly to face Connor. His expression was unreadable, but the tension in his shoulders suggested he'd been expecting something

Reading the configuration of a confrontation from within it. I saw where it was about to break. And I moved toward it. Not because it was the brave option. Because it was the only one.

He was correct, I have no right to go against the rule but I do have the right to change it. “You are right in some sense while in others you are not, I have to say” I moved slowly away from the guard and steered my way toward him with purpose. “When a decree stands, no one should go against it, not even the one who established said rule. Well, at least not unless the rule is changed” I want to set the atmosphere and mess around with them for a speck before coming out clean and informing them of the real deal.

He links his hand through mine and holds it tightly at his side. “That’s why I chose to do this…”. He switches on the TV. “This is my starting point. This is how I’m going to earn the right to ask for your hand”. “To hold my hand— ”. The television comes on in a swarm of noise and light. Different news flashes across the screen, but they all have the same headlines. Each one bolder than the last. “The second amendment of the Japanese Omega Rights has been reviewed and approved…more suitable laws protecting omegas have been passed as of today…”.

Ron stopped and looked at me annoyed, “No we should not! The mansion is to the left. You are wasting everyone’s time.” I gritted my teeth, “I know the mansion is to the left, but we should take the exact same route as yesterday which is right at this tree.” Some people spoke up saying they also remembered going right but Ron just raised his voice over them, “Well we have now wasted precious minutes anyway so it would not even matter anymore. Anyone who wants to be with Blake in time follow me to the left. The rest can follow the omega wolf to the right.”

"Yep." Doris spread both of her hands. "Well, what are you waiting for? Do the honors." Snatching a scissor, she slit the tape bidding the package, and flipped it open. Inside the box were four other smaller metal boxes customized with locks on their sides. Each of the boxes had a member of their family's name engraved on it: Abuela, Mamá, Evy, and Livvie. Evelyn guessed instantly that the password to the lock had to be their birthdays. She smile and reach for the first one which had Abuela on it and clicked her birthday but it buzzed and the word "Wrong" written in bright red light appeared on the rectangular screen.
