A large eagle was released into the sky, carrying the letter tucked inside a small pouch on its back. Yet, just as a fleeting sense of peace settled over them, a reply arrived the very next evening. The Emperor had even prepared a different bird to ensure its delivery. “He is truly persistent in wanting us there, Rose.” Kaelus tossed the gold-inked parchment, just untied from the imperial eagle's leg, onto the table. Its edge struck a teacup, causing it to rattle instantly. A look of sheer fury flared within his crimson eyes. Roselyn took a long breath, reaching for the letter to read it line by line. Her brows knitted tightly together.

"It's only a matter of time. But we need to be ready. Our primary concern is Zyra's safety and the peace of our pack." Just then, a sleek black bird appeared in the sky, its wings cutting through the air with precision. Kieran's eyes widened as he recognized it as Marcus' messenger bird. The bird swooped down gracefully, landing on Kieran's outstretched arm. Attached to its leg was a small rolled-up letter. "Marcus' message bird," Kieran muttered, carefully untying the letter from the bird's leg. He unrolled it and began to read, his eyes scanning the words with a growing sense of urgency.

I guess that’s my answer. “I’ll try and come.” Excited he swirls around me twice before flying out of the window again. The note in hand diminishes magically. How is it even possible that we talk to people who don’t understand what we’re trying to say, but a half non verbal conversation with a bird seems to function so easily?

The bird was small, its body length was around three fingers, but it had a space power. Quite a rare bird nowadays which didn't originate from this continent.

“Of course the telephone is always faster and easier but it is safer. No one suspects it. They will assume it's just a normal bird. If I could use a telephone, it could be easily tracked and getting into us wouldn't be hard anymore.” I crossed my arms, still watching the sky. “And you’re sure it won’t get intercepted? What if it goes the wrong route or delivers it to the wrong person or is shut down by an arrow?”” “It won’t,” he replied calmly. “That's Tyra. I've had Tyra for over 12 years now and she and I have bonded over long distance deliveries. She's very smart and she trained too. These birds are trained for situations like this. They know exactly where to go.”

"Huh?" Gideon also came to a stop. He looked at the bird. It looked ordinary, but to so effortlessly land on Yohan's shoulder despite the oppressive energy around him meant it was anything but. The bird had a letter in its beak. Yohan took the envelope, and the bird turned into a streak of light and flew off. As Yohan finished reading the letter, his expression shifted unpredictably.
