Akayda’s face broke into a very bright smile. “Thank you so much, Zack.” I narrowed my eyes as one brow shot up. Why was she smiling at him like that? Zack in return flashed her a smile back. “You’re welcome, Akayda. I'm just doing what I'm paid to do.” That butthead. Why the hell is he smiling like that too? I've seen enough of this, so I cleared my throat. “If you’re done, you can leave and go back to your office.”

It's been a week since Levi's accident and now he's cleared to go home. Levi still doesn't remember me in any way even though I tried making him remember. I could tell he was uncomfortable with my presence but tolerated it. I know he was suspicious of me but he was trying to trust me. He also got his things back so I'm hoping that maybe there's something in his phone that would help him remember.

“I did not know that.” “There are things about me you do not know yet,” Levi said. “We have time.” Nate looked at him. Something moved through his face that was the almost-smile, the real one, the one that started at the corner of his mouth and was gone before it fully arrived. “Apparently,” he said. Lunch at the formal table was something else entirely.

I apologised, the guilt of making a person like him upset consumed me. He masked his expressions almost immediately, as if it was never there before he forced out a smile and said, "No, you don't have to apologize. It's alright." He assured me. And, that was the moment when I realised that the actual smile of Lev is much more bright and charming than the one he is using right now for my sake.

She looked at the two of them and though she looked surprised, Amaira greeted Levy with a smile on her face, “ Miss Levy, it’s good to see you here.” “ It’s good to see you too, Miss Amaira,” replied Levy with a smile. However, her smile was a bit stiff when compared to Amaira. “ Is everything all right?” Amaira asked though she did not stare at her swollen cheeks, Levy knew that she was only being polite.

The physical and emotional exertion of each session seemed to melt away as he shared this moment with Selena, his confidante. Evelyn's keen observation detected the facade of a smile on Levi's face, and with empathy etched in her voice, she gently addressed the emotional turmoil he seemed to be concealing. Is there something you need?” She didn’t bother to try and seem polite and decided to smirk instead. “Actually, I just wanted to pass along a message from Levi.” “Um, okay.” Had things really gotten so bad that Levi couldn’t even stand to look at her anymore, even just to deliver his own messages?

I get that he's macho, but there's no need to be over dramatic. Taking a seat on the bar stools, Levi reaches in the bag and passes me my chicken nuggets and fries. "Thank you," I tell him, and I'm rewarded with a soft smile, something he doesn't give very often. Usually when he smiles there's still that hardness to him, but not now, and I think it's my favorite look of his.

LEVI The cameras switched off. For a moment, nobody moved. The studio lights still burned overhead, warm and bright against Levi's skin, but the smile he'd worn throughout the interview vanished the second the producer announced they were clear. His jaw tightened. A makeup artist approached, but one look from him sent her retreating. "Excellent interview, Mr. Connard." The host extended a hand. Levi shook it. "Thank you." The host lowered his voice. "I truly hope your wife sees it."

He flexed his hands, clenching and unclenching his fists as he repeated the motions a few times until he was used to the brass knuckles and felt confident enough he could punch someone without hurting himself in the process. Half an hour later, Levi made his way to his car, his box tucked safely under his arm. Mrs Ackerman was still at his place, cleaning out the fridge when he arrived. He spent a few minutes reminding her about the importance of discretion; she could certainly learn a thing or two from Angela. There'd be no raise for her for a very long time. "I'm sorry," she replied meekly, her head cocked to the side slightly. "I thought the lass knew."
