"She handed me the book and then… she disappeared. Just like that. No explanation. Nothing." Elara swallowed. "I thought it was weird, but I still took it." Her hands trembled faintly as she spoke, the memory still too vivid. "The cover said… The Legend Alpha Prince," she said quietly. "And when I touched it… it started glowing." A ripple of tension moved across the room.

I avoided Marcus and went to the study. When I unlocked my phone, I found exactly what I expected—Mirabelle was livestreaming. In my previous life, she had done the same thing, sharing her "day in the life of a rich family's housekeeper" online. She even claimed she was going to follow the lady of the house and challenge herself to reverse aging in thirty days, going from 40 back to 20. At the time, her viewers were in stitches, flooding the chat with comments. "Ma'am, you'd have to be remade from scratch. If you can go back to 20 in 30 days, I can go back to kindergarten!"

In his hands was a very old looking book. Twisting the upper half of my body as I rolled over, I was able to catch a glimpse of the book. “FACT OR FICTION? Werewolf Legends of Old” was printed on the cover. “Learning anything interesting?” I rasp, my voice rough with sleep. He lays the book down and smiles at me as he brushes a few wild strands of my hair down with his fingertips, and I feel a shiver run from my head to my toes. “There are so many legends here that I’ve never heard before. I’m making notes of the ones that I think are worth exploring in more detail, or anything that might somehow be connected to you or the wolf packs that are searching for you.”

I closed my eyes and hugged her letter. "Life in the Darkness..." Where there is pain, darkness, grief, and hatred. Maybe she's right; that's where all of my life's events can be compared. I stood up, placed Mother Esme's letter on the bed, and examined myself in the mirror. I removed my clothes. I examined my entire body because it had been a year since I had lost consciousness. My body's wounds and bruises healed, but it left a scar. My scars serve as a reminder of my past.

"Go now. In your next life, you will be born into a loving, ordinary family, with loving parents, a healthy body, and a peaceful and happy life." I turned back, taking one last look at the world full of scars and entanglements. The small sunflower windmill in front of my tombstone spun tirelessly in the wind. I wouldn’t have approached if it was not glowing because I already knew the story behind it but I did and it opened when I just barely placed my hand on the handle. “Strange.” I mutter as I opened to door fully to see stacks of scrolls inside the drawer. Picking up the one at the top of the pile, I unrolled it only to see an account of someone’s life, a queen, it would seem. Reading through it, it didn’t take me long to discover that these scrolls were from the time before the Northshore was Northshore, the queen referred to her kingdom as another name but still her descriptions where the same with the few ones I have heard about the forgotten world.

I'm sure her female heart would love that, but it's too cruel even for me. Then again, with what's waiting for him, I think he'd be paying his penance for a long time to come. I smiled to myself at the thought of what his life was going to be like once the dust settled. This thing might turn out much better than we'd hoped for. If he's anything like the man I'd built him up to be in my head, then he'd move heaven and earth to stay alive no matter what demons drive him. I get why the kid did what he did, I don't agree, but I get it. For all his reading of Sun Tzu, he doesn't seem to have yet realized that life is the true war, and you should fight to the death to hold onto it.

So far, you have met or 'heard of' (ahem) the major leads, and now book two will be centred on: Daisy, Erden, Kassian, Bryant, the demon, a bit of travelling to different continents with Isaac and more of fierce Vivanna, lol, unfortunately, the bumbling and uncertain Vivanna dies in book one and comes back far more villainous in book two.
