I tried to think of other things besides the Cosa Nostra. I often wondered what my life would have been if I wasn’t born in the Cosa Nostra. I walked over to the sofa near the window and I sat down. I could’ve lived a normal life; far from all the disaster and the hate. When I was about to be married to Primo, I thought about escaping and moving to another country. I could get a job and live my life normally. But I realized that I wouldn’t survive in the real world. I wanted too much but knew too little of what was before me. I think it’s for the best that I was born as part of the mafia. If you learn to live with what you have, you’ll start to think that it’s not all that bad.

And while ours can be quite violent, the lifestyle and traditions are somewhat old-fashioned, and outdated and can come off as strange to outsiders. I never imagined it would have some truth to it.

He was ruthless, but he had his standards. But, this was not the life Mia had asked for. She did not beg to be on earth to be maltreated by her parents then sold to a Mafia boss. I knew that being a member of the Mafia was very dangerous. Mia's life was always at risk for the rest of her life whether she chose to remain in the Mafia or leave. I felt sad for her, but I could not save her because I was going to be part of the Mafia family soon.

Ivyrose was mortified when we saw how Gerardo kicked a black cat out of his way after failing to shoo it away. “I told you he’s superstitious.” "Didn't you ever think of getting away from him once you had your own money?" she suddenly asked me and I felt my soul leave my body. "Rosie. You have to understand something.” I threw the bud of smoke and held her by the shoulders. “I thought you understood this by now, there's no leaving the mafia life. You either get killed or die of old age. That's it. You have to remember that, okay?"

She tilted her head and he smirked as her choices were limited. " You could always just live on the streets and be out of a job forever. " She smiled as she bit her lip again. Even though she should be furious what could she really do. This man could do many things and possibly putting her out of work for the rest of her life was one of them. " You know Killian... Blackmail isn't a really good look for you " She said with slight confidence which quickly disappeared when he stood straight again and plastered a sinister grin on his face.

We’ll have tons of enemies, and I already have many enemies. We’ll be in constant danger… You sure you wanna do this, amore?”

He pauses for a minute, I don’t say anything because I can tell he wants to say more. “Jamie deserves to live her own life, I want her to worry about herself. She has been more of a mom then a sister, but it’s not the same anymore. She isn’t a mother, or a parent, she’s a sibling, and it doesn’t feel right. She thinks I’m going to go to college, and live a normal life, but I don’t want a normal life because I’m not normal.” He picks up the shot and downed it like he is taking a breath of fresh air. “The mafia is where I belong.”
