I hung up, but as I tried to leave the bathroom, I collided with Derek.

“Hey, Lucas,” Derek said, grinning from ear to ear. “Pleasure to see you. Didn’t know you were here. Come join my table. Let me buy you a bottle. I’m celebrating my woman’s pregnancy. I’m sure you saw the news already. It’s everywhere, so there’s no way you haven’t seen it.”
His voice dripped with mockery, and I could feel my blood boiling. My fists clenched, my jaw tightened, but I was trying to keep my anger in check. Derek, however, seemed to be enjoying this show.
