I nodded at him and instantly made for the library. On getting to the library, I barged in impatiently to see her sitting in my spot, holding my mother's book. The second volume. She raised her head to look at me, letting a smile tug at the corner of her lips. “You are quite fast with the book.” I said, walking towards her, letting her scent fill my nostrils. “It's interesting with a great portion of smut, and court drama.” Hyacinth whispered, grabbing a cup of wine on the table. “And mystery too, so… it's quite the package.”

"Word of advice? The good stuff isn't kept with the dusty old books." Before I could ask what she meant, she was gone. Disappeared into the shadows like she'd never been there at all. Who the hell was that? I shook my head and went back to searching. I didn't have time for mysterious women with probably glowing tattoos. Hours passed. My eyes burned from reading by candlelight, but I kept going. Most of the books were about pack laws and territory disputes. Nothing helpful. But then my fingers found something different. A thin book wedged between two larger ones.

I had foolishly believed, that just like everything else, it would be ruined and past any precious glory, but I was wrong. It was beautiful. The inside was bright, with floating balls of light, flying high in the sky. There was a very large wooden bookcase, stacked with books and literature, stone tables scattered around with drawing and symbols and little bottles of potions on top. The lounge was usually empty during morning lectures, which was exactly why Professor Ellis had let us use it to sort donations before the event next week. Books covered almost every flat surface. Mystery novels sat beside biographies. Romance books had somehow mixed with history textbooks, and Benito had already started making ridiculous commentary every time he picked one up. But nothing seemed to match the symbol on my door. Frustrated, I leaned back in my chair, rubbing my temples. There had to be something here, some clue that I was missing. I glanced at the stack of books beside me, my eyes landing on one that looked older and more worn than the others. Its leather cover was cracked and faded, the title barely legible: *The Mysteries of Silverwood.* I pulled the book closer and opened it carefully. The pages were brittle, the text handwritten in an elegant script. As I flipped through the pages, a passage caught my eye:

Looking around, I spot a few of Danielle Steels' books and she's one of my favorite authors. "Can I just have Malice?" I ask, and Liam doesn't budge for a minute. I try to keep calm, watching him moving graciously, before he plucks a well preserved copy of Malice. I think I'm going to stick with the latter tonight. It was my first novel to read, so it's kind of exciting to reread it.
