The building's silhouettes suddenly became the dark night sky and the lights from their windows suddenly were twinkling. "Isn't that beautiful?" I asked when I saw a broken stoplight, the red light was blinking and the green and yellow once didn't seem to work. I thought it was aesthetically pleasing, under the gloom of the night, along the empty streets and silently passing cars. The slow blinking of that stop light seemed to harmonize with the quietness of the evening. I looked at Edgar and he was frowning at the stop light. "Pretty much could cause traffic, goodness, that should be fixed," he said and I rolled my eyes at him.

Lara breathed in deeply, hot pink abruptly washing her ivory pale complexion as she belatedly understood. One slim hand braced on the edge of the desk. She swallowed hard on her fury. “Try Miller,” she suggested thinly. “Miller?” the receptionist repeated with a perplexed look. “Just tell Mr. Moreau that Lara Miller is here,” she enunciated between gritted teeth. “You can go up,” Lara was told ten seconds later. The elevator disgorged two couples in full evening dress. She walked in, her heart in her throat. The Northern Star Hotel was one of the most expensive establishments in the country. Lara had always hated this place.

I challenge, a rare occasion for me. My mother’s face tightened, “I promise, you are lucky not to experience such a feeling.” I’m pretty sure she was lying. Regardless, as the Alpha’s daughter I’m off-limits. A life spent semi-underground is not what men my age want to sign up for. So, I drink a powerful tea that kills the natural cravings of the underground heats. Leaving me numb and bored. The Light is almost a monastery. Tucked away in the far north it’s pilgrims stay all summer to watch the miracles of the Moon Goddess. Then remain underground, encased within metres of snow and ice for the winter. Repeat until the end of time.

A cold so complete that it burns--like the void itself. As I watch the last of the shadow creature fade, the darkness of the room seems less complete but it is still oppressive after my latest encounter. Walking across the room, I find the newly installed switch and flick it upwards. The room blossoms into blue light. The innkeeper, Samael, had me install these lights in the tavern after the False Queen offered free lights to any business willing to install them. At the center of each light is an all too familiar blue crystal, like the ones used to shadow walk by the moon drakes.

The library itself was a testament to the wisdom and knowledge accumulated over generations. The lighting in the library was a sight to behold. Bioluminescent sconces adorned the walls, casting a soft, ethereal glow that danced across the pages of the books. It was as if the wisdom contained within the volumes was brought to life by the gentle luminescence. Crystals, embedded within intricate chandeliers, scattered and refracted the light, creating mesmerizing patterns that shimmered across the vast expanse of the library.

The little, green trees were illuminated and influenced as well, as critical strong shadows of light hit them. From an elevated perspective, this could seem like spots of different varieties of lights, in blend, for a bouquet impact of a photo. Blasting lights, white, reds and blue, a stunning gathering of groupings, that fits together completely, similar to a jigsaw puzzle, of a solid zeniths, painted structure. Each corner beats with action. Smoke of stogies and cigarettes consume the space, restless to mix in with the exhaust of vehicles. Logan sat in his study room, trying to get some work done. The room was just at one end of his bedroom, it was like a mini library but it was hidden away and concealed in the disguise of an old wardrobe which was no longer of use. The yellow bulb in the room illuminated a poor light but bright enough for him to see through, not like he even needed light to see, he was a creature of the night, with eyes that glow red in the darkness like that of the devil.

Max was simple with a white shirt and a pair of blue jeans. We all pile into Max's black Volkswagen and reached our destination. The pub is half an hour away from the pack. It's close to the city. It is a neutral territory where all the supernaturals can mingle with each other. The interior of the pub is decorated with a combination of black and red. As soon as we enter, I saw a bar on the far right corner with a few booths and there is a dance floor on the left. The pub is packed with party-goers. Dim lights, loud music, sweaty bodies everywhere, it's exactly like the last 2 times I came here.

SEVENTEEN There was no way to tell if the fog had dissipated throughout the day because, by the time Michael woke, the town beyond his window hazed again. Blue light from the halogen lamp in the carpark dueled with the neon pink MOTEL sign, dousing everything in slicks of color that refused to merge. Their glows seeped into the room, reflecting off his phone, burning in the dusty television screen. It itched to look at, all that arcade lighting. Dreams were easier.

Dara got up and she started to stare at Wade. “Dara are you okay?” Wade asked her. Dara remained quiet and continued to stare. He shook her. “Wade!” she hugged him. “Damn you were deep sleeping.” “I was tired.” she spoke, “Have you figured out what to do?” “Well, we vampires and werewolves sleep at day and we wake up at night. There are very little of us who are awake at day and they sleep at night.” Wade told, “So we’ll go there at day. There are some of my friends. I’ve talked to them. I’ve told them that I wanted to bring my girlfriend to our place so she can see where I actually belong. They are going to be useful if anyone else sees you there.
