I threw the skillet with all my might, hitting the creature’s midsection. It barely noticed. It turned its triangular head toward the wagon, its mandibles clicking in anticipation. Inside, the children were awake. I could hear Mina whimpering, and then a strange, humming sound. "Leave my Papa alone!" Cian scrambled out of the wagon. He looked tiny against the towering glass beast. His face was pale, but his eyes... they weren't brown anymore. They were glowing with fierce, molten gold.

I turned to the other traitor, Stylo, a lean and wiry werewolf with black fur. His eyes were flashing with intensity, and he was glaring at me with all the power left in his pale body. I moved closer to him, with a mocking smile on my face, and I playfully cupped his bloody chin.

The pack members at our backs tensed, a low chorus of growls rumbling in the dark. Zero didn’t hesitate. His gun roared, the report deafening in the enclosed space. The lead creature’s head snapped back, but it didn’t fall. It righted itself, a black, oozing hole where its eye had been. It laughed, that same glass-grinding sound. “Puppies with firesticks,” it rasped. “How quaint.” “Silver,” one of our pack members, a hulking wolf named Kael, snarled. “It has to be silver!”

It was the first time I had ever seen Leo open his eyes. Black as pits, they glowed with an eerie golden light. He curled comfortably in my arms, lazily lifting his head to face the three Tibetan mastiffs. Their jaws gaped wide, saliva dripping onto my forehead, yet the pain I expected never came. The mastiffs froze in place, completely still. They stopped, their eyes locked on Leo's golden gaze, mesmerized. Then, as if under a spell, they scrambled backward, tails tucked, retreating in utter submission.

He used the rock wall as his footrest, then he jumped right over the giant dog's nape and slashed its head so that it rolled onto the ground. Kyron landed proudly on his two goat-like legs. Then the lights flooded. I could almost feel my heart over my throat. My eyes widen and my mouth fell at the sight of an enormous animal who stepped inside my room. I shudder. Indeed, it was gnarling with its large, pointed teeth. It has long legs with black claws and its body so slender that I could see the visible ribs and its skin are black. A black wild dog. There was a blinding light that caused all watching the change to either close their eyes or look away. When the light was dimmed and everyone was able to focus their vision back on Keyne and Felan they noticed that the light was coming from the pair. Felan’s wolf, Kimiko was a beautiful light grey that had a silver glow to it. Keyne’s wolf, Havoc, Was wheat and shined gold. The whole pack was in awe. Each one kneeled or bowed their head. Both out of respect and knowing. Nezerra was completely speechless as the two wolves approached him and Mack.
