I whispered, “the blood, the war, her suffering… all because I loved her?”
The Priestess didn’t answer. She didn’t need to.
The temple doors creaked faintly, and I felt another presence slip in before I saw her. Lilith.
Her perfume, sharp and sweet, like poisoned honey, filled the air.
“I was wondering how long it would take for you to crawl back here,” she said softly.
The Priestess bowed her head, stepping away. “This is not the place…”
“It’s exactly the place,” Lilith interrupted, her tone laced with venom. “Tell me, Priestess, does the Moon bless adulterers now? Or only fools?”
