Lily was coloring at the counter, her tongue sticking out in concentration. “Good morning,” Kira said. Elena turned and smiled. “Good morning, sweetheart. Lily didn’t appreciate the joke. “Nolan is your mate,” she growled at me. “How can you let this wolf say such a horrible thing about him?” But Lily didn’t always get to be the boss of me. I told her to be quiet. “I love you too, Yena,” Evan replied. “I’d do anything for you, you know.” “I do know. Thanks.” Evan slipped his hand out of mine and stood up. “So, what do you say we do something fun today?” he asked. “Something different, that’ll take your mind off this bullshit?”

They were all holding hands under a yellow sun. "We're all holding hands," Lily explained. "Because we're a family." Damian stared at the drawing for a long moment. His throat moved. When he looked up, his eyes were suspiciously bright.

“Oh, you mean the one you pitied? The one who looked so tired and desperate? So you decided to pay her 300,000 dollars for a mere painting.” My hands clenched into fists. Mrs. Smith scolded her, but the damage was done. “I should get going.” I mumbled, placing the painting on the couch and heading for the door. Bethany followed me, draping her arm over my shoulder. Her perfume was sickly sweet, just like her tone. “Did you change your number?” She asked. “I didn't.” I replied, curtly. “Did you block me, Lily? I swear, we tried calling you, but your number just vanished!”

Sin speaks up. "She is," Evelyn confirms quietly, her voice barely above a whisper. "Lily was definitely planning something bad. You felt faint after our drink and then I tried to get you home in my car but I think I also felt faint as well and when I woke up I could see Lily trying to kiss Sin and take a picture of it." Mrs. Hayes tightens her grip on Evelyn's hand, "I am not surprised that she would do something like that, she is a slut after all," she says, glancing at me with a hostile look.

Attempting to disperse the peculiar atmosphere that seemed to settle around them, Lily interjected with a light-hearted exclamation, "Good Lord! Leon is so handsome.
