Somewhere in the Dark Moon pack Iris' POV "Daddyyy!" I jolted awake, panting and sweating profusely in the cool of the well air-conditioned bedroom I slept. "Not again. Not again." I glanced at the small digital clock under the lampshade on the nightstand. "Exactly one a.m." I darted around my cozy room frightfully, as memories of the nightmare flashed into my mind, causing my chest to lump with apprehension. This was the the sixteenth time, in the sixteen years of my life that the same horrifying nightmare haunted every eve of my birthday.

"Gina." I heard the Alpha yell the minute we entered the pack house. I was exhausted and a little confused why he was calling out to another female. Picking me up bridal style he carried me up the stair case to our bedroom. "Now you need to rest my beautiful Luna. Please listen to me when I say you must not leave this room until I say." he ordered me and I nodded in response. My eyelids were heavy and I couldn't stop yawning. Smiling as my alpha mate carefully tucked me into the huge king-size bed. The freshly made bed of satin sheets and cover was so deliciously comfortable, I could just sleep in it forever.

"So you've had some dreams lately?" Everyone knows most of my drawings come from my subconscious while I sleep. "I'd call them weird nightmares." He pats the couch beside him, and I read a very understanding expression on his face. He has woken me up from many nightmares before, and isn't shocked by the horrors I try and describe to him after. Talking with my dad is maybe just what I need to make sense of what's been going on with my Alpha mate and his mystifying pack. So without hesitation, I crawl up beside him, curl my legs under my thighs, and give him my art book. The one with all the darkness, death... And demons.

I had nightmares in the first few years, but they faded as I got into high school. Finally, my thoughts drift to my mom and dad as they get up to grab the last glass of orange juice from the fridge. I sigh and say, “Spot, we need to go to the store tomorrow before work, buddy.” I grab some water for him and head to my room. Exhaustion finally catches up with me. I take a few sips of the cold juice, place it on the nightstand, and drift off to sleep. Once again, nightmares take over, but this time, it’s not just mom there; Luciano is also present.

The girls noticed immediately and let me rest, promising to come back tomorrow afternoon—Tanya still had school in the morning, after all. That night, I tossed and turned. My sleep was haunted by nightmares—gunshots, Wayland, pain… over and over in a relentless loop. Damian barely had time to react before Noah launched himself into his legs. I laughed despite everything. Our six-year-old son wore dinosaur pajamas and messy bed hair. Clearly, he had just woken up. Damian immediately crouched down. The tension vanished from his face. Replaced by warmth. Love. The kind that only Noah could bring out of him. “Why are you awake, buddy?” Noah crossed his arms dramatically. “I had a nightmare.” “A nightmare?” He nodded seriously. “A giant octopus ate my spaceship.” I burst out laughing.

A sigh of relief escaped my lips, and I let my neck fall backward to the wall and closed my eyes, relieved. My chest heaved up and down. My tank top and my hair were glued to me due to sweat. Suddenly, a wave of drowsiness ran through my body. My eyelids became heavy again. I shook my head and opened my eyes, only to see the room circling around me. Black spots came into my vision and before I knew it, I was falling unconscious again.
