“Get inside and stop pontificating.” Loki shoved him through the hole. He turned to us and grinned. “Good luck. Don’t forget to raise a glass in my honor at the after-party.”
“We couldn’t have done it without you,” I said.
“Thank you, Your Majesty,” Griff added.
Loki waved us away with a chuckle and moved back from the tree. I took Griff’s hand, stepped inside, but instead of a force sucking me up through the trunk, the tree’s knothole closed, encasing us both in the dark.
