“Well, well,” he said, his gaze sweeping over us before settling on me. “This must be the infamous group stirring up trouble in my territory.”
“Who are you?” Rigel demanded, his tone low and threatening.
The stranger tilted his head, as if considering whether to answer. “Adrian,” he said finally, flashing a grin. “Rogue hunter. And you’re welcome, by the way. Those creatures? Taken care of. You’re safe for now.”
“How do we know you’re not lying?” Rigel’s grip on his blade didn’t falter, his body coiled like a spring ready to snap.
