Some old collections rich people used to show off to their fellow rich people There was a large desk in the corner with an antique-looking lamp on top, the bulb seemed to be lit but not on, there were strange-looking books, some with leather covers, others paper, some old, some brand new with pages that fell open and wrinkled under my fingers. There were even some books with gold writing on the cover but none of them looked like they were readable, I picked up the nearest one, it was titled in Latin. Opening the book carefully, the first page was blank except for two black lines that started from the middle of it, it looked like someone had drawn something underneath them. They weren't words

Too guarded. But now curiosity wins. I get dressed in clean pajamas and pad downstairs. The living room is dark except for city lights streaming through the windows. I flip on a lamp. Look around properly for the first time. The furniture is expensive but comfortable. Not just for show. There are books on the shelves. Real books. Old ones with worn spines like they have been read multiple times. I run my fingers along the titles. Most are classics. Literature. Poetry. A few on history. And then an entire section on werewolves.

Who would've thought that I could just ask an old man? "It's one of the 2000's classic, brat! Of course I do." 2000's classic? That's an old *ss book then, no wonder I can't find it in the web. But if it was one of the classics, I'm sure I could've at least found an article or two about it. "But, I couldn't find it in the web." I said. It must have not been a famous book. "Of course you won't. That book was blacklisted by you guys."

"What have you been up to all this while?" "You want to know what I've been doing in my spare time," I asked, surprised that he cared at all. My hands instinctively clamped my neck as I remembered what had happened. He was a man of different shades. "Yes" He said, looking steadily at me. "Nothing much, I've been going to the library. This place has an interesting collection" "Is that so?, what are your favourites so far?" He asked, lighting up at the mention of books. "Well, I've seen many of the classics. Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Cervantes. The novel section is divided into time periods. For some reason though, Dickens is missing and he's one of my favorites."

I noticed he had categorised his books according to genres: Fiction Politics Classics Poetry History Romance Wow! I hadn't imagined him to have such a wide variety of books. It seemed like he was an avid reader. My fingers brushed against the leather-bound spines of the books. Most of them appeared to be limited editions from their paper and bindings. Leila walked between the aisles, surrounded by old copper kettles, once fine German porcelain, toy trains, and oak plant stands trying hard not to look bored. One stall caught her eye—a pile of books, mostly battered children’s tales and lonely volumes of the classics not worth much without the rest of the lot. Some books looked interesting, bound in old tooled leather. Then something caught her eye. She spotted a volume in the middle of all that artful chaos. It was a thick, faded book with a tan leather binding. The title, The History and Artifacts of the Ancient Germanic Tribes, was elegantly crafted in gold letters. Leila’s pulse quickened. Trisha heard Mrs Perry complain as she glided through shelves teemed with ages-old books before she could be pulled into hours-long conversation with the old lady. She picked up a book from a dilapidated shelf, blew off the dust that had found solace on it's leather covering over the years, and squinted— because of the poor illumination, to see the books name. ‘Wizards Can Do More’ by one of the greatest wizards ever, LP Travis. The store sold antique books and was often swamped with customers. However, one day before the close of work, Matilda found some free time. It seemed as if the flow of customers had stopped. A new stock of books had just come in and she found her attention drawn to a very heavy looking old brown book. She slid it from the shelf, took it to a reading table and began to flip through it. It wasn't that the book was old but rather, it had been printed in the old times, centuries ago. It was hand written.
