When loving you meant losing me

When loving you meant losing me

My heart jumped into my throat as I stared at the screen. Three little dots. They appeared. They disappeared. Appeared again. Gone. Three minutes passed. No response. I couldn’t help myself. Sharon: "Baby, please don't do this to me. I can't breathe without you." It felt like the oxygen had been ripped out of my lungs and my chest couldn’t expand properly. My legs trembled. I’d never had such a frantic reaction to anyone before. It felt like I was standing on the edge of a cliff, and someone had nudged me forward.

Losing to love

Losing to love

Marcus Grayson was a fact in Jamie’s biography the way a scar was a fact on skin — present, permanent, not discussed. “And?” I said. “And I talked about him.” He broke a piece of bread. “For about forty minutes apparently. I lost track of time.” “Was that—” “Terrible,” he said. “And probably necessary.” He looked at the bread in his hand. “He used to—” A pause. Long enough that I thought he’d decided not to continue. “He used to leave. Not permanently. He’d just disappear for days and come back like nothing had happened and my mother would rearrange herself around his return every time. Smooth everything down. Make it normal.”

When she looked up, she saw five faces looking at her as if they were watching a ghost. “What?” she asked them. “Did you expect me to die of an ankle injury?” “Well, you missed everything.” “What did I miss?” “Everything!” “Which is?” “The loser’s obligations to the victor.” “What!” “You missed your share of the duties and brought dishonour to us!” “What the hell are you talking about?” “She doesn’t know about loser’s obligations!” “See. When a house loses two matches out of three, they are declared a loser and they have to perform the loser’s obligations to the victors.”

The First Heir

The First Heir

Charles sat on the sofa, glared at Martha angrily, and said, “How dare you ask me? If not for you, we wouldn’t be in this predicament.” Hearing this, Martha felt very uneasy and immediately burst into tears. She said, “I was cheated. Do you think I'm willing to lose so much money?” Hmph! Charles snorted coldly, feeling angry. Two weeks ago, Martha went out with some friends and learned to gamble. Gambling was no big deal, but she lost 30 million! 30 million! Charles did not know about this at first. Later, Martha felt indignant and wanted to win back the money she lost. love this book...the way the writer builds up the characters most especially the ML..but i was wondering why would the ML have to endure such humiliations from his inlaws when he could just show them his real 'him' as well and the enormous power that he holds considering the status of his family...w

Married a Secret Billionaire

“Z?” Josiah called out to him several times. “Z? Are you there?” Marcus snapped himself back to reality and cleared his throat. Josiah chuckled and said, “Well, I finally understand what they mean by ‘losing in your own thoughts’. Even though I’m not there, I can imagine you staring at your wife right now.” Marcus said with a grim voice, “Josiah, if you’re asking for a beating, you can just let me know. You don’t have to remind me so euphemistically.”

I've only read two books on this app. This is the second and by far the best one. The storylines are fluid, the characters are endowed with personality and most importantly the writer makes them come together seamlessly. Ideally, this is what the experience should be, uncomplicated and enjoyable.

I like the story. However, the cost is high for books on here and they are never ending. Not that the chapters are long, but it is almost the same outlying as the other books from this author. Sometimes it takes a moment to see what characters they have actively engaged in that chapter.

One Night Stand With My Future Uncle In Law

One Night Stand With My Future Uncle In Law

Gabriella's POV "I did not lose to you at every single game." "You did not win a single game." "I won the pinball machine." "You played one round of pinball. You scored three points. Three. The machine gave you pity points." Mariano shook his head and walked toward the next game. It was a basketball shooting machine. A hoop with a net and a line of basketballs. "Basketball," he said. "I can do basketball." "Famous last words."

RISING FROM THE ASHES: The CEO’s Regret

"You just threw away a diamond to keep a handful of cheap gravel. Remember this night. Because it’s the night you began losing everything." Turning his back on the stunned billionaire and his furious fiancée, Marcus carried me out of the ballroom and into the dark night, leaving a breathless, terrified silence in his wake.

Divorced and Runaway: Mr. CEO Wants Me Back

I trailed off, unable to find the right words. “It was the hardest thing I’ve ever been through,” Mar said, his voice low but steady. “She was my anchor, my partner in everything. Losing her changed everything about how I saw the world.” I glanced at Jasmine again, a pang of empathy swelling in my chest. “I can’t imagine.” Mar followed my gaze, his lips curving into a small smile. “Kids make it easier. Not easy, but easier. They remind you of what’s good in the world. Of what’s worth fighting for.”

After Divorce, My Secretary Wife Becomes Rival Boss

He explained. Mia matched my expression with a smirk but I knew she just did it so she wouldn't feel intimidated. She was probably wondering why I felt so confident when all I did was work. “I hope you're ready to lose.” She asked with a smirk. “I hope you handle losing well.” I replied and her smirk turned to a frown instantly. “Let the game begin!” The MC shouted and Mia started the game. She caught all the marbles one after the other and passed the first stage. Then went on to throwing and catching in twos.

The Gossiper's Prayer

The Gossiper's Prayer

I went out their room and thought of going outside to play with my friends of my age. I would be playing marbles today and earned more marbles which served as honor and pride to me. I went back to my room and picked up the pouch filled with marbles. I shook it and the way the noise collided from one another made me hear the noise of victory I would I stepped out of the room and-----scream was what I heard from my voice when the shiny black rat passed by just inches away from me and the marbles slipped over and rolled in different corners. My eyebrows met and my breathing was heavier imagining how that disgusting rat caused me to death. I sighed, the only thing I could do then. I
